PS5 Upgrade Guide
This is a guide to upgrading Horizon Zero Dawn from PS4 to PS5. Learn how to upgrade the game as well as how to transfer saved data to your PS5!

How to Update From PS4 to PS5

Digital Version to PS5

  1. Sign-in to your account on the PS5.
  2. Search for the PS5 version of Horizon Zero Dawn on the PS Store.
  3. Look for the PS5 upgrade button and click on it.
  4. Select Download.

PS4 Disc Version to PS5

  1. Sign-in to your account on the PS5.
  2. Insert the PS4 disc version of Horizon Zero Dawn.
  3. Select the PS5 upgrade.
  4. Select Download.

Requires PS5 with Disc Drive

If you don't own the PS5 with a disc drive, you won't be able to upgrade your PS4 disc version of Horizon Zero Dawn. You also can't use the Digital version of the game with this method. Keep this in mind when deciding what PS5 type you'll purchase, as the disc versions of some games will require a disc drive to be upgraded.

In addition, note that you'll always need to insert the PS4 disc into your PS5 to be able to play.

The PS5 upgrade of Horizon Zero Dawn is completely free. This can be done at any time, so don't worry about this feature being removed.

How to Transfer PS4 Saves to PS5

Playstation Plus Storage

  1. Sign-in to your account on the PS4.
  2. In the Settings menu, select Application Data Management.
  3. Go to Saved Data in System Storage, then select Upload to Online Storage.
  4. Select Horizon Zero Dawn and upload your chosen files.
  5. Sign-in to the same account on the PS5.
  6. In the Settings menu, select Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
  7. Select Saved Data (PS4), then go to Cloud Storage.
  8. Select Download to Console Storage and download your Horizon Zero Dawn data.

USB Storage Device

  1. Plug in your USB and sign-in to your account on the PS4.
  2. In the Settings menu, select Application Data Management.
  3. Go to Saved Data in System Storage, then select Copy to USB Storage Device.
  4. Select Horizon Zero Dawn and upload your chosen files. You can disconnect your USB once this is finished.
  5. Plug in your USB to your PS5 and sign-in to the same account.
  6. In the Settings menu, select Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
  7. Select Saved Data (PS4), then go to USB Drive.
  8. Select Copy to Console Storage and transfer your Horizon Zero Dawn data.
