Horizon Zero Dawn - Gather Medicinal Herbs
Gather the Salvebrush Berries.
Follow Rost and gather the Salvebrush Berries he points out.

Horizon Zero Dawn - Eat Berries to Regain Health
Eat the Berries.
Eat the berries to replenish missing health.
3 Horizon Zero Dawn - Follow Rost to the Tall GrassFollow Rost and Hide in the Tall Grass.
Follow Rost and use the Tall Grass to hide yourself from Watchers.

Horizon Zero Dawn - Follow Rost Past the Watchers
Follow Rost Past the Watchers.
Stick to the Tall Grass and weave in between the Watcher patrol.

Horizon Zero Dawn - Gather Rocks
Collect 3 Rocks and meet up with Rost.
After Rost scares away the Striders, collect 3 Rocks before meeting him under a large tree.

Horizon Zero Dawn - Throw Rocks Near Rost
Throw Rocks to Lure the Watcher to Rost.
Rost will stay in the Tall Grass. Throw a rock near his position to lure the Watcher.

Loot the Watcher carcass.
Loot the Watcher for Metal Shards.

Horizon Zero Dawn - Gather Ridge-Wood for Hunter Arrows
Gather 2 Ridge-Wood.
Gather 2 Ridge-Wood from the plants near the Watcher carcass.

Horizon Zero Dawn - Craft Hunter Arrows
Craft Hunter Arrows then follow Rost.
With the gathered materials, craft Hunter Arrows using the Weapon Radial before following Rost into the Tall Grass.

Horizon Zero Dawn - Scan the Strider
Scan the Strider for weaknesses.
Use your Focus to scan the Strider. The Blaze Canister on its back and its Eye are weak points.
11 Horizon Zero Dawn - Kill the StriderKill the Strider.
Shoot and kill the Strider. Remember to exploit either of its weaknesses with your opening shot.

Horizon Zero Dawn - Loot the Strider Carcass
Loot the Strider carcass.
Loot the Strider carcass for Metal Shards and Machine Parts.
13 Horizon Zero Dawn - Follow Rost to Where the Boy FellFollow Rost.
After the cutscene where the Boy falls, follow Rost to the Machine Site.
14 Horizon Zero Dawn - Sneak Past the WatchersSneak to the Wounded Boy.
Scan the 3 Watchers blocking your path using the Focus. Tag them and use the Highlight Path function to see where each Watcher walks. Sneak past them and cross the river to the wounded Boy.
15 Horizon Zero Dawn - Lead the Boy to SafetyLead the Boy to Safety.
Now, only 1 Watcher will be in your way. Tag it and highlight its path before navigating to safety.

Tips and Strategies

Use the Tag and Highlight Path Functions

Horizon Zero Dawn - Highlight and Track Watchers

Aloy will not fight that much during this quest. Use the introduction to the functions of your Focus as reference for future Machine Site encounters.

Tag and Highlight the paths of the different Watchers to make the stealth portion of this quest easier.

Scan the Watcher and Strider Machines for Completion

Horizon Zero Dawn - Scan the Strider

Players aiming to 100% the game should begin by scanning their very first Machine encounters. The Watcher and Strider machines will both count towards percent completion after being scanned using the Focus.

Gather Ridge-Wood and Berries

Horizon Zero Dawn - Gather Ridge-Wood

All of the items gathered here will carry over to the next mission. Make sure to gather as much Ridge-Wood and Healing Berries as you can in preparation for the next main quest.
