Warning: Completing this quest will immediately thrust players into the final main quest of Horizon Zero Dawn. If you plan to prepare some more before the final battle, there will be an option to let Aloy continue exploring at the end of this quest.

| 1 |  Complete the Oseram Questline.If players have not finished the Oseram Questline, this mission will not officially begin. Complete the quests The Field of the Fallen, Into the Borderlands, and The Sun Shall Fall to begin The Looming Shadow. |
| 2 |  Talk to Blameless Marad.Talk to Blameless Marad and inquire about how the preparations are coming along. |
| 3 |  This is the culmination of all the side quests and main quests Aloy has completed thus far. If you want to meet all the allies you've helped (and have volunteered to fight), visit preparation areas on the Ridge and near the Spire to speak to the NPCs. |
| 4 |  Rest Before the Final Battle.Warning: Opting to continue will immediately take players to the final main quest of Horizon Zero Dawn. If you plan to prepare by getting better weapons, armor, or modifications, do not choose to rest. |
| 4.5 |  For players gunning to get the All Allies Joined trophy, consider declining the option to rest and instead continue your exploration of the world. |

The Main Quest of Horizon Zero Dawn will have branching narratives that deal with both the Nora and the Oseram. At some point, players will be locked from the main events of the quest if they have not completed certain branching questlines.
If you find yourself unable to start this quest, you will need to complete The Field of the Fallen, Into the Borderlands and The Sun Shall Fall quests if you have not done so already.
