Plus variants are slightly stronger variants of accessories in Dragon Quest Monsters 3: The Dark Prince (DQM3). Read on to learn if there are any plus variant monsters, how to get plus variant accessories, is it worth prioritizing and more!
List of Contents
There are no plus variant monsters in Dragon Quest Monsters 3: The Dark Prince. In earlier titles, it was possible to acquire plus variant monsters through synthesis, but it was abolished in this game.
Plus variant accessories can only be acquired through accessory synthesis in the Tinkerer's Toolbench in Rosehill. Synthesizing accessories does not stack the effects, but instead gives a chance to create a stronger accessory variant.
At the Tinkerer's Toolbench, you can synthesize accessories by selecting 5 accessories to combine. You have a chance to get 1 enhanced or Plus variant accessory after synthesis. Likewise, you must accept the risk that there is a possibility that the synthesis can fail and you lose the synthesized accessories.
Accessory Synthesis Guide: How to Get Better Accessories
The plus variant will be selected among the chosen accessories used for synthesis. Be sure to include the desired accessory to have a chance of getting the desired plus variant accessory.
Success | Dialogue: "Well, well! Quality work I say so I myself! Here you go, lad, all yours!"
Accessories will be returned with a plus. |
---|---|
Failure | Dialogue: "Oh dear, it seems much the same as when we started... Well, we can only hope to do better next time, eh."
An accessory will be returned without a plus. Other accessories will be lost. |
Accident (Hocus Pocus) |
There is a chance that an accessory will be reborn as another accessory. |
By using Hocus Pocus Rings in your synthesis, you are more likely to encounter accidents in your synthesis. This is a risky way but potentially beneficial way to create more powerful accessories.
Accessory synthesis can be reversed by loading a previous save before you tried synthesis. However once an accessory is synthesized, it cannot be undone.
While you can keep on retrying synthesis to try and produce a new accessory, if you use the same materials, the results will not change.
If you switch things up and change one material every time you attempt synthesis, the result will be different everytime. If you want to synthesize a plus variant accessory, trying many different combinations is highly recommended.
If you're looking to just casually play the game, it is not worth prioritizing accessory synthesis to produce plus variants. Collecting accessories will be time consuming and you will be better off training monsters or scouting even stronger monsters.
While it is not completely important in a general playthrough, accessory synthesis does provide some advantange in the competitive PVP arena. It does not diminish the fact that you still have to train hard for stronger monsters, but having better accessories can give you an advantage.
