Large Monster Synthesis Procedure | |
---|---|
① | Choose a Monster to Turn Into a Large Monster |
② | Scout a Large Monster ★ Stone Golem and Drakularge that appear in Circle of Caprice, Middle Echelon (Autumn) are recommended |
③ | Synthesize the Large Monster Caught in ② With the Monster in ① |
④ | Repeat steps ② to ③ until the Monster in ① becomes Large. |
First, choose any Monster you wish to turn into a Large Monster. If the Monster's size is larger than usual, the probability of synthesizing a Large Monster increases. If you have small Monsters of varying sizes, choose the largest Monster possible.
There are no in-game menu indicators that clearly indicate the size of Small Monster sizes. To determine the size of Small Monsters, they are identified by gauging their appearance in the overworld and in combat.
Next, scout for a Large Monster. The recommended scouting locations for Large Monsters are listed below:
Recommended Scouting Locations for Large Monsters
Upon obtaining the Large Monster, synthesize it with the Monster you've chosen in Step ①. During this synthesis, the small Monster may result into a Large Monster variant.
If the result is still a small Monster, then repeat the steps listed above. If you wish to increase the probability of synthesizing a Large Monster, you can repeat steps ② to ③ until the Monster chosen in Step ① becomes a bigger size.
A Small Monster's size will gradually get bigger as you do this, so it'll increase the probability of synthesizing a Large Monster.
Season: Anytime |

If you want to get an accessible Large Monster, we recommend scouting the Stone Golem that appears in front of the House of Shifting Sands in the Circle of Caprice, Middle Echelon.
Since they appear regardless of the seasons, you can easily encounter this Monster.

By setting the season to Autumn, you can also opt to scout for the Drakularge as well. It is in the same area as the Stone Golem.

Synthesize Large Monsters |
Synthesize Large and Small Monsters |
Large Monsters can be made through synthesis. There are two ways to create them, and both methods require at least one Large Monster. The first method has two Large Monsters as the ingredients, while the second method has a Large Monster and a Small Monster as ingredients.
Synthesis Guide and Calculator: How to Fuse Monsters
Large Monster Parent | Small Monster Parent | Result |
---|---|---|
Big | Big | Large Monster |
Big | Small | Small Monster |
Small | Big | Small Monster |
Small | Small | Small Monster |
If the body size of the compounding parent is big, it is possible to create a Large Monster even when adding Small Monsters as ingredients.
Large Monsters can also commonly appear in the overworld and inside dungeons. However, the rate of their appearance is lower than Small Monsters. Monsters that appear as Strong Enemies will appear in a Large appearance.
List of Scoutable Monsters
In the DLC, The Mole Hole, there are Monsters whose sizes are fixed. You can go into this special dungeon to find Monsters with sizes that are normally difficult to spawn.
Monsters that hatch from eggs have a chance to be Large Monsters. However, this is quite difficult if you're looking for a specific Monster, but the method is recommended if you're just looking for a random Large Monster to synthesize with.
How to Farm Eggs and List of Locations
Our playtesting team hatched more than 100 eggs and have verified that the appearance of Large Monsters is about 38%. According to testing, Large Monsters appear once every 2 to 3 times, so this method is recommended for players who want to get a Large Monster easily.
★ Advantages and Disadvantages |
---|
Can Learn 6 Traits Instead of 3 Large Monsters Gain Higher Stats More Resistant to Status Effects Large Monsters Use Up Two Party Slots |
The most prominent advantage of using Large Monsters is that it possesses 6 Traits instead of 3.
Most Traits that Large Monsters have are quite strong, especially those that increases the number of actions you can take in a single turn (e.g., Tactical Commander). This advantage is more than enough to make up for the disadvantage of requiring two party slots.
HP | MP | Attack | Defense | Agility | Wisdom |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1.5x | 1.1x | ||||
Note For Large Monsters, their stats multiply by the stated multiplier above. But as it levels up, stats other than HP and MP will drop to 0.9x to 0.7x multiplier. |
For Large Monsters, their HP and MP stat increases by 1.5 times and other stats increase by about 1.1 times. One of the advantages of Large Monsters is that it has 1.5 times more the HP and is therefore more durable in battle, making it harder for enemies to defeat.
Resistances That Increase | Resistances That Do Not Increase |
---|---|
Stun
Sleep
Paralysis
Poison
Instant Death
Confusion
|
Elemental Debilitation
Bedazzlement
Antimagic
MP Absorption
|
The difference between Large Monsters and their regular-sized counterparts is that they have a flat 50 points to resistance to some status effects (e.g., Sleep, Stun, Paralysis etc.) So there is a lower chance of this Monster being afflicted by the ailments listed above.
Large Monsters also do not become resistant to any elemental attack.
The one disadvantage with Large Monsters is that they require two party slots to be placed inside your team, so there will only be 3 active Monsters instead of 4. However, the advtanges listed above completely offset this con, so it is still recommended to bring Large Monsters.
In Ranked Battles, it is recommended to have fewer Monsters in your party. If the battle is not resolved after 10 rounds, the winner will be determined by the number of Monsters defeated and damage dealt. But if you have Large Monsters in your party, you have one less Monster that can be defeated and it takes less damage.
