Always Keep Your HP up to Prepare for Hatchet Man

Dragon Quest Monster 3 - How to Beat General Chayne Hatchet Man
Hatchet Man has a very low chance of actually hitting the monsters in your party. If it does hit, it deals a significant amount of damage that may leave you defeated in no time.

Be sure to keep your HP consistently high in case General Chayne successfully uses Hatchet Man.

Use Monster Skills and Items That Can Heal You During Battle

Most of General Chayne's attacks revolve around damaging everyone in your party, so make sure you use healing skills that can heal all monsters in your party. Use the item Amor Seco Essence to heal everyone in your party.

For the monster skills, you will need to use Right as Rain and Multiheal to prepare for the onslaught of attacks you'll be receiving.

Right as Rain Can Be Acquired From the Soothesayer or Splash Virtuoso Talents

Right as Rain can be learned from acquiring monsters with the Soothesayer or Splash Virtuoso talents. For the Soothesayer talent, you will need to spend 120 SP to use Right as Rain.

You will need to synthesize either two parent monsters that have both Splash Afficionado or a parent monster that has maximun Talent Points for Splash Afficionado in order to acquire the Splash Virtuoso talent.

How to Farm Talent Points and What to Spend Them On

Prepare Multiheal to Use Alongside Right as Rain

Multiheal is an exceptional skill to use in helping your monsters recover during battle. At this point in the game, Hades' Condor may be the most likely candidate to possess the Multiheal skill.

Most of General Chayne's attacks are physical, so it is important to debuff his attacks to decrease the damage he can unleash on your monsters. You can reduce the potency of General Chayne's physical attacks by using the Attack Attacker and Blunt skills.

Thin Air and Hatchet Man Cannot Be Debuffed

Thin Air is technically not a physical attack so using Attack Attacker and Blunt as a countermeasure will prove ineffective.

Hatchet Man will not be affected by any debuffs as well, so it is important that you keep your HP consistently high considering that General Chayne can act twice per turn.
