You can set instructions for monsters by selecting the Set Instructions option in the Your Monsters menu.
We recommend setting instructions to skills that match the monster's traits. For example, the Splishmeister traits increase the potency of water-elemental attacks and decrease their MP consumption. If a monster had this trait, It would be beneficial to set instructions for its water-related skills by marking them with a ⬆.
Aside from setting instructions for your monsters, you can also set a tactic for them to further optimize their roles in battles. For example, if you set a recovery skill to ⬆ for a healer, you should choose the Focus on Healing tactic for them so they'll prioritize using that skill when needed.
If you want to raise your level faster by quickly defeating enemies, set instructions for skills that attack all or multiple enemies. Mark powerful attack skills with a ⬆, and mark all other skills with a ╳.

Setting instructions is a system that allows you to set the frequency a monster will use its skills during automatic battles or when you give them auto-combat instructions. This allows you to specialize and optimize your monsters. There are three frequency options as seen in the table above.
If an enemy is resistant to or can decrease the damage dealt by your skills marked with a ⬆, skills marked with a ⬇ may take precedence. This is due to the instructions system always choosing skills that will deal the most damage.
