Dragon Quest Monsters 3 - How to Beat the Ifreann Eagle
The Ifreann Eagle is one of the bosses in Dragon Quest Monsters 3: The Dark Prince. Learn about the Ifreann Eagle's weaknesses and recommended party members to beat the Ifreann Eagle here!

How to Beat Ifreann Eagle

Ifreann Eagle List of Attacks

  • Regular Attack
  • Kafrizz (Heavy fire damage to one target)
  • Kaswoosh (Wind damage to all targets)
  • Scorch (Heavy fire damage to all targets)
  • Brake Wind (Reflects breath attacks)
  • Acts 1-2 times

The Ifreann Eagle has 3 powerful spells, and the Brake Wind ability, which enables it to reflect breath attacks back to the attacker.

Attack with Physical and Magic Attacks

Dragon Quest Monsters 3 - How to Beat the Ifreann Eagle - Brake Wind

Brake Wind Reflects Breath Attacks

Breath attacks are completely off table in this battle, as the Ifreann Eagle's Brake Wind ability will just send those attacks back to you. Physical and magic attacks are the way to go.

The Ifreann Eagle doesn't have any resistances against status ailments, however, so it's recommended to use skills like Sap and Helm Splitter to make this battle easier.

Bring a Monster with Brake Wind or Insulatle

Dragon Quest Monsters 3 - How to Beat the Ifreann Eagle - Scorch

Watch Out for Scorch!

The Ifreann Eagle's strongest and most dangerous attack is Scorch, which targets all of your monsters and does a considerable amount of fire damage.

This is a breath attack, so you can use the Ifreann Eagle's own tactics against it by using Brake Wind if one of your monsters has it, or Insulatle to significantly reduce its damage.

Bring a Monster with Omniheal

The Ifreann Eagle uses both Scorch and Kaswoosh, which are both extremely dangerous if you're not careful. To negate as much damage as possible from these spells, be sure to have Omniheal on hand!

For added safety, you can use the Insulade tool to reduce the damage your party takes from Scorch, especially if you don't have Insulate or Insulatle.

Omiheal can be learned by the three monsters above, excluding A-rank monsters or higher. Flutter Slime is easy to synthesize, but King Cureslime is the most recommended of all three due to its high stats and usability for special synthesis.

Weak to Water Elemental Attacks

Dragon Quest Monsters 3 - How to Beat Ash, Blaise, and Bernie - Use Water Attacks
The Ifreann Eagle, much like the Brimstone Boys, is weak against water attacks and will take significantly more damage from it.

FOr an easier battle, bring a monster with the Splash Afficionado Talent, and then progress it to the higher Splash Virtuoso Talent for more powerful water attacks!
