Metal Dragon Can Be Skipped

Dragon Quest Monsters 3 - Map

The Circle of Fortitude (Upper Echelon) is a complicated maze. In addition, some routes will allow you to ignore and skip boss fights. Skipping the boss fights will not affect your progress, so you can ignore them if you feel you can't win.

The green route as shown above will allow you to skip the Metal Dragon.

Metal Dragon Has Bounce Skill

The Metal Dragon has the Bounce skill that allows it to reflect spells to its caster. So bring monsters with mostly physical attacks.

Increase Your Defense With Kabuff

The Metal Dragon has very few attacks. It has a regular attack and Boulder Toss. You can't reduce the damage of its attacks, but you can reduce the amount of damage your monster will receive by using Kabuff to increase their defense.
