The End will always start the boss fight on either of the 2 cliffs at the north of Sokrovenno South. To ambush him, sneak your way past his line of sight and head into Sokrovenno North. Once there, backtrack to whichever cliff he was on to ambush him.
Note: This is also the best time to hold up The End. Players who are new to the fight can do this at the very start so they don't have to worry about missing the Moss camo later in the fight.
Your weapon of choice for this fight will be the Mk22. Whenever you catch The End unawares, make sure to shoot him thrice. The third shot will always knock him back, giving you more time to dodge the Stun Grenade he throws when he gets back up.
Since you have limited Mk22 ammo on Hard and Extreme difficulties, you can switch things up by using the Cigarette Gas Spray and Mk22 interchangeably. The former is great, especially if you manage to get the drop on The End.
The key to getting an easy non-lethal takedown is to stick close to The End. You'll want to follow hot on his heels to avoid having to deal with his sniping antics. In order to do this, make sure to dodge the Stun Grenade he throws after you attack him.
If you manage to pull this off, you'll have an easier time following him as he moves to his next sniping spot. For more experienced players, it also gives you ample time to fire 3 more Mk22 shots to get free stamina damage in.
If you manage to lose track of The End when entering a new area, don't waste your time slowly tracking him. Instead, run around until he shoots you. Use that to pinpoint his new sniping position.
Once you've figured out where he is, reload your autosave (the one created after entering the new area) and return to where you last saw him. This time, with foreknowledge of his position, you'll be able to easily sneak up on him.
Performing a non-lethal takedown on The End rewards you with the Mosin Nagant - a powerful, non-lethal sniper. After The End's defeat cutscene plays, you'll find the Mosin Nagant at the center of Sokrovenno North.
