How to Beat The Fury

Metal Gear Solid Delta The Fury Boss Guide

The Fury is the fifth boss you fight in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater (MGS3 Remake). Read on to learn how to beat The Fury in Groznyj Grad Underground Tunnel, including tips for getting a non-lethal boss kill, missable collectibles you can get in his arena, and rewards for beating him.

Wear Black Camo and Face Paint

Black Camo and Face Paint
The boss fight against the Fury takes place in a dark tunnel. With that said, make sure to wear the Black Camouflage and wear Black Face Paint to minimize your detection in the dark. An exclamation mark appears over the Fury when he spots you before using his Flamethrower.

Use the Mosin Nagant Quick Swap to Deal Damage

How to Quickswap Shoot the Mosin
1
Hold L2 Button to aim then press R1 Button to scope in.
2
Shoot with R2 Button.
3
Then, double tap Right D-Pad to unequip then re-equip the Mosin.

This step allows you to skip the bolt cycling animation of the sniper.
4 Repeat from Step 1 two more times.

The Mosin Nagant is, by far, the best gun for this encounter. Once you learn how to quick swap to chain three shots together, you can non-lethal kill The Fury in as little as 4 salvos.

To quick swap shoot the Mosin, scope in, shoot, then press your weapon window button twice. Then repeat this two more times to chain the shots.

The Mk22 Can Still Work for a Non-Lethal Takedown

If you don't have the Mosin Nagant, then the Mk22 can still work in a pinch. However, it will deal less stamina damage and have less range. 3 tranq hits still cause a stagger, but it'll only drop his stamina by about 2/3rds of a bar compared to the solid 1 bar of the Mosin.

Sneak Up and Slash Him with the Knife to Tear His Suit

If you plan to go lethal, then your first step is sneaking up on him and slashing him with your Survival Knife. This step is easy since all you have to do is immediately head south at the start of the fight.

Once there, look left and right until you spot him. Go Stalk Stance if you want, but it's easier to just run up to him and start slashing. Remember, to slash with your knife, you need to "aim" it first. Get enough slashes in you'll rip his suit and deal considerable HP damage.

Regular Weapons can Still Tear His Suit

If you don't want to get up close and personal, you can instead use regular DMG weapons to tear The Fury's suit from a distance. However, do note that this method uses up a lot of bullets compared to the single combo required by the Survival Knife.

Use the RPG-7 to Delete Him on a Lethal Run

With his suit in tatters, equip your RPG-7 and go to town. Each hit will knock him back while also chunking away at his HP. This method is the best compared to using other conventional weapons during the fight. The SVD is also a viable weapon but, similar to the RPG-7, is only effective after his suit is torn.

Use Your Cardboard Box to Put Out Fires

If you find yourself running afoul of his flames, you can quickly put out Snake by equipping and unequipping Cardboard Box A. While the animation is slower in MGS Delta, it still does the trick to extinguish fires.

Alternatively, you can also spam dodge rolls to put out Snake when he catches fire. There's also the option of shooting the water pipes, but that has the potential to alert The Fury.

The Mosin Nagant is the best weapon for getting a non-lethal takedown of The Fury. Master its quickscope tech and you'll speedrun this boss fight before The Fury can start razing the arena.

Alternatively, for lethal runs, slash his suit up first using the Survival Knife before pelting him with RPG-7 shots until he dies. This loadout is much easier to use compared to other weapons like the SVD or M37.

The Fury Boss Fight Rewards

Fire Camouflage

Defeating the Fury non-lethally will reward you with the Fire Camouflage. When equipped, it reduces fire and explosion damage by half - the perfect camo for an NG+ beatdown of The Fury.

Kerotan Frog
Groznyj Grad Underground Tunnel
After going down the stairs, start heading north. As soon as the area opens up into the boss arena, look directly ahead of you to find the Kerotan on one of the pipes above the arena.

GA-KO
Groznyj Grad Underground Tunnel
Only obtainable during The Fury boss fight. As soon as the fight begins, run to the westernmost corridor of the arena. Then look for an opening along the western wall to find the camouflaged GA-KO sitting atop a pipe.
