Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater (MGS3 Remake)

Camo Index Explained

Camo Index Explained
The Camo Index represents Snake’s camouflage effectiveness in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater (MGS3 Remake). Learn how it works, what affects it, and the trophies you can earn by mastering stealth.

Camo Index Explained

Determines How Visible Snake is When Hiding

Camo Index

The Camo Index determines how effective Snake's camouflage. It appears as a percentage bar at the bottom of the screen. A reading close to 100% means Snake is almost invisible to enemies, while a low percentage means Snake stands out clearly.

Match Your Camo to the Environment for a High Camo Index

Matching Snake’s uniform and face paint with the terrain increases the Camo Index, making him harder to detect. If his camouflage does not match the terrain, the Camo Index would drop drastically.

The environment dynamically influences the Camo Index. For example, crawling into mud causes it stick to Snake's body, helping him blend more naturally with his surroundings.

Posture Can Affect Your Camo Index

Going prone provides the best boost to your Camo Index, making Snake nearly invisible in matching terrain. Crouching offers a moderate increase, while standing lowers your index significantly, making you easier to spot by the enemy.

Movement Will Lower Your Camo Index

The more Snake moves, the easier he is to notice. Staying still raises the Camo Index, allowing him to remain hidden longer, while moving too much lowers it and increases the chance of being spotted.

Camo Index Trophies

There Are Two Bronze Trophies to Get

Bronze TrophyBronze A Good Man is Hard to Find
Achieve a Camo index of 100%.
Bronze TrophyBronze I Can Totally See You
Achieve a Camo index of 90% or higher.

To get a camo index of 90% and higher, match Snake’s camouflage to his environment. Staying prone and keeping still makes Snake nearly undetectable which is crucial for reaching the maximum Camo Index. However, you can also just get the Stealth Camouflage to easily get both of these trophies.
