Stamina Affects Survival and Accuracy

Low stamina weakens Snake’s LIFE recovery rate and causes noticeable hand shaking when aiming weapons. Keeping stamina high is essential for faster healing and steadier aim during combat.

O2 and Grip Gauges Are Based on Stamina

The O2 Gauge shows how long Snake can hold his breath underwater before his LIFE begins to drop. Having low stamina shortens the amount of time Snake can safely stay submerged.

The Grip Gauge represents Snake’s grip strength while hanging. With low stamina, the gauge drains faster, increasing the risk of falling.

Food Recovers Stamina

Snake can recover stamina by eating food. The taste of the food determines how much stamina is restored, with tastier meals giving a bigger boost. If Snake keeps eating food he initially dislikes, he may eventually develop a taste for it. Stamina will naturally decrease over time or when Snake performs actions.

Cure Stamina Ailments Before they Get too Serious

Some gameplay mechanics will cause your stamina to deplete rapidly. For example, swimming in swamp water attracts leeches which cause your max stamina to decay rapidly. When you encounter these negative effects, make sure to Cure them immediately.
