How to Hold Up Enemies

Holding up enemies in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater (MGS3 Remake) involves sneaking up until you're in CQC range then pointing your gun at them. Read on to learn how to perform hold-ups in-game and how to make held up enemies drop loot.

Stalk an Enemy Until You Reach CQC Range

To hold up an enemy, approach them without being seen. Once you're a few paces away, start stalking to prevent them from hearing your footsteps.

Pay attention to how close you are. If the CQC prompt appears it means you're close enough to start holding an enemy up.

Pull Out Your Gun and Aim at the Enemy

Once you're in CQC range, pull out any of your guns and aim at the enemy. They'll be startled, disarming themselves and putting their arms up to beg for their life. Move in front of them while maintaining your aim, as they are more likely to drop their items if you are facing them.

Aim at Their Vitals to Get Them to Drop Loot

To get enemies to drop loot, first aim away from them, then quickly aim at their vitals (like the head or crotch). If you do this correctly, affected enemies will start dropping loot.

Do You Need to Hold Up Enemies?

Required to Get Secret Theater Film Reels

Loot Secret Theater Film Reels

After finishing the game at least once, you'll unlock the Secret Theater - a collection of cinematic bloopers made by the developers. However, unlike in MGS3, these aren't unlocked automatically.

To get new footage to watch, you'll have to hold up certain enemies throughout the game. If successful, they'll drop 8mm Film Reels that unlock the secret theater entries.
