This is a guide on the Caution and Evasion phases in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater (MGS3 Remake). Read on to learn the difference between caution and evasion, as well as how to handle each phase to stay undetected.

What Does Evasion Mean?

Enemies Have Lost Sight of Snake

Evasion Phase starts when Snake slips out of sight during an Alert. In this phase, enemies are aware that Snake is in the area but no longer have him in their line of sight.

If you were able to avoid detection, the Evasion timer will eventually go down to zero, then switch to the caution phase. Make sure you are not found by waiting until the Evasion timer depletes completely before moving around enemies again.

Enemies Will Actively Search for Snake

During the Evasion Phase, guards are more spread out and are actively searching for Snake's whereabouts, checking his last known location. They will inspect hiding spots such as hollow trees, lockers, or under desks. If Snake is found during this phase, the game will immediately revert back to Alert Phase.

Enemies are on High Alert

Caution Phase begins right after the Evasion timer runs down to zero. During this phase, enemies no longer know Snake's position but will remain on high alert. When the Caution timer depletes, the area resets back to a normal phase.

This means enemies will be returning to their standard patrols as if nothing happened. Make sure to remain undetected while the timer goes down to avoid extra obstacles such as more patrols and limited movement.

Enemies React More Quickly

Guards will patrol more carefully and may call backup, depending on the location. The guards' routes will expand and will react more quickly to noises and suspicious movements.

Do Caution and Evasion Count as Alerts?

No, They Do Not Count as Alert

Caution and Evasion phases do not count as alerts, so even if you enter these phases several times, they will not be recorded in your Alert Phase count.
