Capturing animals in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater (MGS3 Remake) can be done by using the Mk22 or mousetraps. Learn how to capture animals alive and the benefits this offers.

How to Capture Animals and Plants

Use the Mk22 or the EZ Gun

To capture animals alive, simple tranq them using the Mk22 or the EZ Gun (if you have it unlocked). Animals captured this way will stay in cages and they won't spoil regardless of how long you hold on to them.

However, do note that Snake has a limited number of cages. You can only hold a maximum of 3 live animals at any given time.

Use a Mousetrap

Another method for capturing animals alive is by using the Mousetrap. Simply place it on the ground then leave and re-enter the area. Upon re-entering the area, you'll notice that the mousestrap will have already caught animals.

To pick up both the live animal and the mousetrap, go prone and crawl over them. This automatically picks up the used mousetraps and places them in your inventory, ready to be used again.

Food Source and Distraction for Enemies

Capturing live animals offers significant advantages in the field. Live prey does not spoil, ensuring a reliable food source for Snake. Additionally, Snake can strategically throw live, poisonous creatures at enemies to disorient or distract them.
