This is a guide covers what counts as an Alert in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater (MGS3 Remake). Learn more about how it's triggered and what to do when in Alert phase.
List of Contents
An Alert is only considered an Alert if the red Alert text appears at the top of your screen. Caution or Evasion phases are not considered Alerts. Even if an enemy notices you (exclamation mark above their heads), it is still not considered an Alert unless he triggers an alarm.
During multiple times in the story, Snake will be forced into a mandatory Caution state due to enemies being on high alert and aware of his presence. During these sequences, you'll need to avoid getting seen by the enemy, otherwise you'll trigger an Alert.
In MGS Delta, a new quality-of-life feature has been added called the Records and Titles tracker. While in-game, hit Pause then open the Records and Titles menu. Under the Records (Now) tab, you'll see a tracker that shows if you've triggered an Alert Phase (among other info).
Once an Alert starts, soldiers radio for reinforcements and open fire on Snake. Expect heavier patrols and direct gunfire as the enemy prioritizes eliminating you.
When escaping, you must break line of sight and remain hidden. The Alert gauge at the top of the screen will slowly run out, and once it reaches zero, the game switches into Evasion Phase, where enemies search the area where they last saw Snake's position.
