Road Trip can be played in four different difficulties in Kirby Air Riders. Learn the difference between the difficulties, how to change difficulties, how to unlock Super Hard, and what the recommended difficulty is in this guide!
| Difficulty | Gameplay |
|---|---|
| Casual | Challenges are a lot easier to clear and retries won't consume Road Miles. |
| Normal | Challenges are not too easy but also not too hard to clear. |
| Hard | The CPU levels are higher than Normal difficulty's. |
| Super Hard (on NG+) | Challenges are a lot harder and you cannot retry them. You can only restart stages from the beginning or the halfway point. |

Retrying a challenge typically costs Road Miles, except in Casual difficulty where it's free. Road Miles are primarily used to buy Stat Upgrades or Machines so if you don't want to spend Road Miles on retries, Casual difficulty might be the way to go.

All difficulties are unlocked at the beginning except for Super Hard. To unlock Super Hard, you'll need to clear Road Trip at least once, which should also unlock the New Game Plus mode.

You can change difficulties any time by pausing the game and selecting the gauge icon at the bottom left of the screen.

Once you start a run in Super Hard difficulty, you won't be able to change that run's difficulty. You also cannot retry challenges on the spot and you'll need to restart your stage progress either from the beginning or at the halfway point.

If you simply want to complete the Checklist or learn more about the game's lore, there is absolutely no issue with playing Road Trip on Casual difficulty.
Playing on Casual means easier challenges and free challenge retries, making it easier to manage Road Miles when it comes to buying Stat Upgrades or new Machines.

i think Super Hard mode is bugged - i think as you start over it counts as grinding your level up, so if you get to too high a level, some boss fights HP go up % by the level you are at and become impossible to fight. Either that or the Vs Wheelie/ Vs Kracko/ Vs Dyna Blade fight in Neon Promenade are INSANELY hard or just have some trick to them that i can NOT figure out for the life of me.
