Noir Dedede is the Best Character for City Trial
 Noir Dedede

Noir Dedede is the best character in City Trial since they have high Top Speed, Boost, Offense, and Weight, winning most race challenges and perform well in battle stadiums.
While Noir Dedede can dominate most stadiums in City Trial, they may struggle in flight challenges without stacking Glide.
Start with an Easy to Handle Machine

When starting out in City Trial, choose a machine that is easy to handle and has few quirks.
The goal in City Trial is to pick up power-ups, so machines with quirks such as having weak acceleration but high top speed or slow when ground-bound are not recommended.
Avoid Low Durability Machines

If your opponent destroys your machine, they will steal a large amount of power-ups. With this in mind, it is not recommended to use a machine with low-durability such as the Winged Star, Shadow Star, and Paper Star.
You can use these machines once you have memorized Skyah's map and can plan a route that allows you to safely collect power-ups.

Switch to a Machine that Suits Your Rider in Mid to Late Stages

Once you are near end of the 5 minute time limit, switch to a machine that complements your character and works well with most of the Stadium Challenges.
Specialized machines generally have an advantage in the stadium, so when you reach the middle or end of the time limit, check your current stats and switch to a machine that suits you.
How to Change Machines in City Trial
Find and Craft Legendary Machine Parts Midgame
When you reach the midgame part of the City Trial, find and destroy red boxes to get parts of a Legendary Machine.
You need to get three parts to craft the machine and completing it successfully allows you to use it during City Trial and in Stadium Challenges.
List of All Legendary Machines
Legendary Machine Parts are Shared in Team Battles
When playing Team Battles in City Trial, the legendary machine parts are shared between your team members. The team member that picks up the final part gets to ride the Legendary Machine.
Learn Where to Get Power-Ups
Cave
The cave is located underground next to the arena. At first glance, it may seem like there aren't many boxes or other items, but destroying the ores will reveal power-ups. Once destroyed, the ores will not respawn, so this is a location you will want to head to early on.
Underground Shopping Mall
The underground shopping mall can be accessed from the City area. Many items and power-ups appear here and the mall can be accessed from multiple entrances.
Inside the Volcanic Crater
You can get to the volcanic crater by jumping into it from the top of the volcano. There are not many items and power-ups inside, but the boxes are densely packed, so you can collect them in a short amount of time.
Garden in the Sky
The Garden in the Sky can be found floating directly above the city. There are no boxes but there are a large number of power-ups to collect. Characters with good flying skills and low attack power should make this the top priority location when gathering power-ups.
Characters such as Meta Knight and Star Man whose special abilities greatly increase their flying ability can reach this location even without power-ups or with machines that have low flying abilities.
How to Get to the Garden in the Sky
Floating Island
The Floating Island appears outside of Skyah but spawns randomly for each match. You need to have a machine with high flying capabilities or high stats in order to reach the island.
Much like the Garden in the Sky, the Floating Island contains a large number of power-ups instead of containers.

Shipwreck
The Shipwreck is located near the water at the edge of the stage. Although there are not many of them, items always respawn, so it is easy to drop by to collect items from this location.

Participate in Field Events
Participating in Field Events such as Short Races and the Dustup Derby earns you a lot of power-ups depending on your ranking at the end of the event.
Even if you don't win at the event, you will still earn power-up rewards for participating, so make sure to enter these events to get more power-ups.
Use Items to Your Advantage
Items are Obtained from Green Containers
Items can be obtained from green boxes, so make sure to prioritize destroying them before moving to a location where you can obtain power-ups or before participating in an event.
All Box Types and How to Destroy Them
Use the Item Catcher to Collect Power-ups

When you pick up the Item Catcher, a circular area will appear in front of your character and all items within the area will be attracted and collected.
This is the best item to use to collect power-ups as you can simply move around the map to gather them. This makes it also easy to collect power-ups that bosses such as Dyna Blade and Kracko drop when you defeat them.

Emits an extremely thick laser that penetrates terrain. |
There are many items in City Trial that can be used to attack opponents, but the damage they deal is dependent on your attack power. If you want to defeat an opponent, it is more effective to use an item when you use a rider with a high attack power.
When an event occurs, oppponents tend to gather at the event location. If you want to switch to a machine with a high attack power and bring an attack item, you can aim to defeat your opponent and steal their power-ups.
Finalize Your Stadium Challenge Machine
Once five minutes have passed, you will enter the Stadium Challenge with your final powered-up machine. You will see the final stats of your machine and the number of power-ups you have collected after the City Trial ends.

The best character to use in City Trial is Noir Dedede. Their high Top Speed, Boost, Offense, and Weight will allow them to be effective throughout most challenges in the City Trial and Stadium Challenges.
However, you'll still need to get the True Ending to unlock Noir Dedede, so you can also use King Dedede or Marx if you don't have Noir Dedede yet.

The best Machines for City Trial in Kirby Air Riders are the Legendary Machines, which can be accessed by collecting their parts. Gigantes parts appear in City Trial after you've beaten Gigantes in Road Trip.
For flight challenges, Winged Star and Paper Star are the best Machines to use. When it comes to races and combat challenges, Rex Wheelie, Bulk Star, Battle Chariot, and Bull Tank will be better options.

The City Trial mode's stage is set on Skyah, a floating island with numerous locations where players can find Power-Ups or encounter field events. Explore Skyah as quick as you can to make your Machine the strongest it can be!

During a City Trial, random occurrences known as Field Events can appear on the map. Most of them are First Come, First Served events that can grant players with a large amount of Power-Ups after participating!
However, there are also certain events that add dangerous elements to the stage and can even alter how certain mechanics usually work. Adapt to these sudden changes and make the most of them to continue strengthening your Machine!
