How to Beat Marx
Circle Around to Avoid Attacks
Marx has a lot of moves that can deal damage in a wide area. Try to prevent getting caught by its attacks by circling around Marx and avoid staying on one side of the arena.
Pick Up Copy Abilities or Items
There will be a lot of Copy Abilities and Items in the boss arena. For this fight, Needle will allow you to hit Marx from a near distance whenever you boost charge. Drill can also let you dig under to dodge the thorns Marx applies to the ground.
In terms of items, Panic Spin makes you do continuous Quick Spins so you can damage Marx whenever you get close. Alternatively, Laser Swiper can also let you hit Marx from a further distance.
Reorient Yourself in the Black Hole
Marx can summon a black hole that will instantly suck you in. Whenever you get caught in it, pay attention to the small Marx icon that appears. This tells you where Marx is and can help you reorient yourself to avoid wasting time on finding Marx again once you escape.

To get Marx as a VS. Boss Stadium Challenge, you must first defeat Marx in Road Trip Stage 8, Neon Promenade. This clears a Road Trip Checklist objective, which unlocks the Marx Stadium Challenge.
Also a Playable Character
Marx is also a playable character, but has a much smaller appearance than its boss counterpart. To get Marx as a Rider, you'll need to complete an Air Ride: Free Run Checklist objective or another Road Trip objective.
