How to Win in Top Ride
Take Advantage of Gimmicks
Gimmicks such as speed panels and unique terrain are present in each course. These can either boost players or disrupt them, which players can take advantage of to win races.

Disrupt Opponents With Copy Abilities and Items
Copy Abilities and items randomly spawn during a race. Use them to disrupt opponents and overtake them in the match!
Play at Normal Camera Range
Normal Camera Range is recommended when racing, as it provides enough visibility ahead. Switching to a full-map view shrinks Riders, making the action hard to follow when races get crowded.
Note that the Camera Range can be adjusted during a race by tilting the right control stick left or right.

Top Ride Mode Mechanics
Race in Top-Down Perspective
Top Ride races are played in top-down perspective. The courses are based on Air Ride courses, but are simpler to accommodate the new perspective.
Players can choose to play with the camera following their own racer, or have the whole Top Ride course take up the whole screen.
Same Mechanics as Air Ride Mode
Top Ride has the same mechanics and rules as Air Ride mode, meaning things like Quick Spins, Boost Charges, and Star Slides are present.
Players can also choose any preferred combination of Rider and Machine in this mode!

Top Ride has two available control types that can be picked before starting a race or while in-game at the pause menu. With Free Control, you tilt the Left Stick toward any direction, while Steer Control uses left or right input to steer.
Time Attack and Free Run Mode
Top Ride also has Time Attack and Free Run modes, both focused on beating your own records. In Time Attack, you aim for the best time across a set number of laps, while Free Run challenges you to set your fastest time for a single lap.
One of Three Racing Modes
Top Ride is one of the three racing modes, alongside Air Ride and City Trial. In this mode, players select a Rider and Machine to participate in races with courses form a top-down perspective.
Supports Up to Eight Racers
Top Ride mode can have up to eight racers competing in Top Ride courses, including both player-controlled and CPU-controlled racers.
