What's scary about curse is it doesn't deal damage to your HP directly. It will just weaken you so you'll still play aggressively because you have full HP then an enemy hits you and your dead. Resiting Curse is a great way to conquer this dungeon since there are many enemies that use curse on your way to the area's boss.
The status effect to prepare against here is Curse. Enemies like Nightmare and Bomb will be throwing out Curse a like party favors. If you don't have any kind of resistance to Curse, your Defense will be cut in half repeatedly and you'll constantly be on the edge of death.
The Curse spell itself does not deal any damage, so as long as you can resist the status effect, you'll be totally immune to the Spell.

The gimmick of hitting the skulls to progress and the position of the enemies which drop keys have not changed at all. Some Treasure Chests have disappeared, but none of actually changed to a new position, so significant changes aside from enemies are minimal.
