This quest will fail when the player has started the main quest Battle Preparations.
| Objectives | |
|---|---|
| 1 | Talk to Udalryk in Svorlag on the island of Spikeroog. |
| 2 | Head into the village to ask the villagers about Cerys. Talk to the woman sweeping in front of her house. She will tell you to talk to Bergthora. She is outside the northernmost house. |
| 3 | Find Eiric. He is at the marked location. 3 Drowners will be surrounding him. Kill them. You will be rewarded with 400 XP for saving Eiric. |
| 4 | When talking to Eiric you can choose the first dialogue choice and he will reveal where Cerys went. If you chose the second dialogue option, you will have a chance to use Axii dialogue choice to find out where Cerys went and gain an extra 40 XP. |
| 5 | Go to the abandoned home north west of Svorlag. |
| 6 | Enter the house and use your Witcher Sene to find Cerys. You will find a set of footprints in front of the door. Follow them. |
| 7 | Head back into the house. Enter the first room to the right. You will find the key at the back of the furnace. |
| 8 | Use the key to unlock the cellar door in the north corner of the house. Go down the ladder. |
| 9 | Pick up the sword Brokvar on the table for 400 XP. |
| 10 | Leave the house then talk to Cerys. Head back to Uldaryk with her. |
| 11 | Get a boat and sail to the marked area. Stop the boat when you reach the marker and dive into the water. There will be 2 Sirens in this area. |
| 12 | Swim to the bottom near the center of the marked area. With your Witcher Sense you will see a corpse. Inteact with it to give it the sword. |
| 13 | Head back and talk to Udalryk. You will receive 550 XP after. You will discover that the problem is caused by a Hym. |
| 14 | At this point you will have a choice trick the Hym or do it the witcher's way and fight the Hym. |
| Objectives | |
|---|---|
| 1 | Enter the abandoned home and use your Witcher Sense to examine a few objects. You will need to examine: ・The furnace ・Broken mirror ・Beam of a broken wall ・Craddle |
| 2 | Go outside the house to talk to Cerys. Tell her you trust her. Choosing not to trust her will lead you to the witcher's way. |
| 3 | You will have a choice to give the baby to Udalryk or to put the baby in the oven. Choose to put the baby in the oven if you wish to trick the Hym. Choosing to give the baby will lead you to start doing the witcher's way. |
| 4 | Beat at least 2 out of the 3 of the Jarl's men. |
| Objectives | |
|---|---|
| 1 | Talk to Udalryk and tell him about the Hym. |
| 2 | Go back to the abandoned house and place the 4 torches in the marked torch holders. |
| 3 | Talk to Udlaryk. Choose to start the plan. |
| 4 | Light the torches. After that is done the Hym will appear. Kill it. Udalryk will occassionally panic; use your Axii to calm him down and continue the fight. |
| 5 | When the Hym's HP gets low enough it will disappear. Go down the cellar and kill it there. |
Geralt discovers that a Hym is what truly ails Udalryk. Geralt will have to decide what method to use to rid the monster. He could do the unprecedented and trick it, or he could use the tried and true witcher way and kill it in combat
Geralt trusts in Cerys and decides to follow her plan, throwing the baby in the furnace. Feeling guilty thinking he has killed the baby, the Hym transfers over to the Geralt. Cerys then reveals her plan, showing the baby was never in harms way. With the Geralt's guilt gone, the Hym disappears.
This method will need the player to choose the right dialogue choices and have a short fight with 3 warriors.
Geralt decides to use the witcher method and drag out the Hym to fight it. Geralt brings Udalryk to their old home and light the torches to force the Hym to appear. Geralt uses his witcher sword to slay the Hym, freeing Udalryk from the monster.
This method will have you fight the Hym in a boss battle.

The best choice would be to trick the Hym. It would skip a bosst fight with the Hym and is much faster and easier to complete.

Prepare a Specter Oil; it will increase your damage against the Hym. The Hym is slow and only has 2 attacks. It has a simple claw attack and a teleport attack. Hit it with heavy attacks to make it flinch with each hit.
When you see its arm start swinging, dodge right away. Yrden will be helpful as it will make the Hym even slower, making dodging it easier.
Hym Location, Weaknesses, and Loot
