This is a guide on how to use crossbows in the game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Read on for a list of all crossbows found in the Witcher 3, as well as other information about the crossbows and the bolts that can be used in combat.
List of Contents
Crossbows are equipped on the Ranged Weapon slot inside the inventory. They can also be equipped with different types of Bolts. If there are no Bolts equipped, the crossbow will automatically use the infinite regular Bolts.
To use the crossbow, you must first equip it in the inventory and select it while on the Quick Access Menu. Now that you have them equipped, press and hold R1 trigger (R on switch) on your controller to start aiming your crossbow. You can then control your crosshair to aim properly with your right analog stick. The crossbow will shoot the bolt as soon as you release the trigger.
Below you can find a list of all Crossbows, divided by tier.

There are different kinds of Bolts that you can use with your Crossbow, each having its own unique effect to enemies. Using the correct Bolt against enemies can make combat much easier.
You can also change the equipped Bolt by pressing left or right D-pad while selecting the crossbow on the Quick Access Menu.
Crossbow attacks can also have additional effects if you upgrade them with skill points on the combat skill tree. These skills are a must have if you are trying to focus on a long range Crossbow build.

Can you use the crossbow as your main weapon? Like a mostly ranged Geralt? Or is it too weak to do that.
