How to Unlock For the Advancement of Learning
This quest will unlock after completing the side quest A Favor for a Friend.
Is For the Advancement of Learning Missable or Failable?
This quest can fail if the player starts the main quest The Isle of Mists.

For the Advancement of Learning Choices and Best Choice
Killing Keira
If you choose the dialogue choices, [You used me] then [I don't like two-faced serpernts]. Your only options will be [Give me the notes] or [I don't have time for this]. Choosing the first one will make you fight Keira and you will have to kill her. The other dialogue options that will result in you fighting her will be [I won't let you do that], [Notes first. Hand them over] and [Give me the notes].
Killing her will give you 200 XP. She will not be available to help during the quest The Battle of Kaer Morhen.
Letting Keira Go to Radovid
If you choose any of the dialogue options that will let you leave the conversation, Keira will decide to go to Radovid with the notes. Letting her go to Radovid will give you 100 XP.
Instead of making a deal, Radovid instead decides to execute her. The side quest A Final Kindness will be available later on.
Send Keira to Kaer Morhen
Choosing [What's with the Notes] then either of the choices will give you either [It's suicide] or [Thousands may die. It'll be on your head]. Either of the two will give you the choice [Go to Kaer Morhen]. This choice will send her to Kaer Morhen for 100 XP.
You can also ask her for the notes after. She will be available to help in the quest The Battle of Kaer Morhen.
Best Choice
Choosing to send her to Kaer Morhen is the best decision. This is the only decision where Keira lives. Because she lives and helps during The Battle of Kaer Morhen, she will save Lambert from death.
In her ending she will be known as the one who found the cure to the Catriona plague and Lambert will become her lover.

How to Fight Keira Metz
Fighting Keria Metz is fairly straight forward. You will need to get close by dodging her ranged attacks. Then once close enough, get in as many hits before she uses knocks you back and teleport. Continue doing that until she dies. You can use Aard to stun her for a moment and Igni for more damage.
Is The Advancement of Learning Worth it?
The Advamcement of Learning is Worth Doing
You can decide Keira's fate in this quest. You can also get her to help you later on in The Battle of Kaer Morhen, saving Lambert during the battle.
