How to Unlock The Nithing
To unlock this quest you will need to read the notice from the Notice Board in Rannvaig. You can also go directly to Lothar's hut southeast of Rannvaig.
Is The Nithing Missable or Failable?
This quest is not failable.
The Nithing Walkthrough
| Objectives | |

| 1 | Head to Lothar's hut and talk to him. |
| 2 | Using your Witcher Senses, examien the Nithing. There are a set of footprints below it. |
| 3 | Follow the tracks. It will end with a shawl stuck to a tree. Examine it. |
| 4 | Follow the scent trail using your Witcher Senses. It will lead to Rannvaig. |
| 5 | Talk to the Skellige woman found near the beach during the day. She will point you to Jonna, the herbalist. |
| 6 | Go back to Lothar and talk to him. |
| 7 | You will have to make a choice between sparing Jonna or killing her. More information in the The Nithing Choices and Best Choices section. Sparing her ends the quest here. |
| 8 | If you chose to kill her you will need to interact with the Nithing. |
| 9 | Talk to Lothar again. |
The Nithing Choices and Best Choices
Geralt agrees to help a father whose son is cursed by someone. He discovers the culprit was an ex-lover of the father, to recover her dignity. They used to be lovers for 10 years until Lothar leaves without a word and married another woman. The whole village talked about how she was "had".
She agrees to lift the curse if Lother agrees to denounce his family, which would make them lose honor and condemns them to poverty. Geralt then has a choice of sparing her and giving in to her demands to lift the curse or reversing the curse onto her, killing her.
Sparing Jonna
If you spare Jonna, Lothar will be forced to leave his family and return to her. Upon reuniting with her he tells her that she only asked him to come back, not to love her. You will receive 75 XP.
Killing Jonna
Geralt reverses the Nithing curse onto Jonna, saving Lother's son and killing Jonna. He thanks You receive 25 XP and 60 Crowns.
Best Choice
If the player would like more XP the best choice here would be to spare her. But if they would want money, it is better to kill her. Story-wise it is up to the player to determine whether the father and his family pay the price of his wrongdoing, or if she went too far with the curse.
The Nithing is not worth doing
We do not recommend doing this quest. The benefits that you gain from this quest are not very useful for your progression in the game. Finishing this quest will be mainly for the sake of the game's completion and to have more knowledge about the Witcher World.
