This page shows how to get the best early game weapons and armor obtainable in the game The Witcher 3. Read on to learn requirements for getting the best early game weapons and armor at the beginning of the game.

The best early game armor can be purchased from the merchant in the first town at the beginning of the game, just west of Woesong Bridge in White Orchard.
He is the same merchant you saved from the griffin after the tutorial. You can purchase the Temerian Armor Set from him, but it will require a large sum of money.

You can purchase the Novigrad Longsword from the Blacksmith at Heirarch Square inside the Novigrad Region. It has excellent stats for a very cheap price, and it only has a level 4 requirement.
These swords can be obtained by completing their respective scavenger hunts around White Orchard. These are silver swords that can give a good advantage once you manage to obtain them early in the game.

Yes the Temerian armor is a must have, not to mention the Temerian saddle, saddle bags & horse blinders. They're unique & can't be bought elsewhere. ...Plus, the Temerian armor pieces go great with Geralt's witcher armor, the "Kaer Morhen Armor" aka "Warrior's Leather Jacket". The Temerian set will carry amateur witchers all the way through to the end of the bloody baron quest line, easily.
