How to Unlock A Matter of Life and Death
You will unlock this quest near the end of the main quest Count Reuven's Treasure.
Is A Matter of Life and Death Missable or Failable?
This quest will fail when the player starts the main quest The Isle of Mists.
A Matter of Life and Death Walkthrough
| Objectives | |
|---|---|
| 1 | Talk to Triss in her hideout located in Novigrad. Choose the dialogue choice Want to tell me something? and agree to help her to continue to the quest. |
| 2 | Go to the fishmarket marked sout west of Hierarch Square. Near the bridge will be a townsman in blue with keys around his belt. Talk to him. |
| 3 | Follow the servant. 3 Bandits will attack at the archway after crossing the bridge. Kill them. |
| 4 | Go to Elihal's shop located south of Tretogor Gate. Buy a Fox mask for Triss and any of the other masks for yourself. (optional) You can also buy the clothing here and wear it for Triss (as no gameplay impact). |
| 5 | Go to Ingrid marked on your map. On your way to Ingrid will be stopped by a rich townsman who mistakes Triss as someone else. You can choose to fight or leave without incident. Leaving without incident will grant 25 XP. |
| 6 | Find Albert. He will be located in the southern most marked area, next to the field. Talk to him. |
| 7 | Sit on the bench marked in the garden. |
| 8 | Find Triss in the maze. |
| 9 | Leave the maze. On your way out of the maze, 3 Witch Hunters will apear. Beat them in a fistfight. Receive 50 XP. |
| 10 | Meet with Triss and Albert at the stalbe located to the north. |
A Matter of Life and Death Tips and Strategies
Romancing Triss
After finding Triss in the maze, there will be a times decision to kiss her. This decision will influence whether or not you can romance Triss later on. Choosing to kiss her will allow you to romance her in the quest Now or Never, otherwise you will not be able to.
Fist Fighting the Witch Hunters
During the fistfight with the witch hunters you still use signs. Use signs like Igni to make the fight much more easier.
Is A Matter of Life and Death Worth It?
This quest must be completed in order to gain access to the side quest Now or Never; the quest that is required for the player to romance Triss.
