How to Unlock Death By Fire
The quest is triggered by crossing a group of bandits northeast of Hanged Man's Tree and west of Codgers' Quarry in the Velen region. The quest begins when you select the ''There's a third option'' dialogue choice.
Is Death By Fire Missable or Failable?
This quest is easy to miss if you don't pass by the specific path it's located on.
You can fail this quest if your reply to the bandits is ''This is not my concern.''
Death By Fire Walkthrough

| 1 | Take the path that leads from Hanged Man's Tree to Codgers' Quarry. |
| 2 | West of Codgers' Quarry, you will come across a group of bandits burning down a house. A cutscene will play and you will be asked to go away. |
| 3 | Choose ''There's a third option'' to progress the quest. Warning: picking ''This is not my concern'' fails the quest. |
| 4 | Defeat all of the bandits. |
| 5 | Use Aard on the barricaded door to blast it open. The elf will then run out of the house on her own. |
| 6 | Speak to her outside of the house to end the quest. |
| 7 | Optional: She mentions that she has a stash of coins hidden under a log behind her house. You may collect or leave it without consequence. |
Death By Fire Tips and Strategies
Defeating the Bandits
Igni and your steel sword work very well against the bandits. We suggest using Axii to stun them; it'll keep you from getting swarmed.
Calling For Back-Up
If you're under-leveled and accidentally happen to pass by this place, you can make the elf fight the bandits for you. To do this, you must break down her door right as the quest begins. She will equip herself with a bow and start attacking the bandits.
Note: Breaking the door may prove difficult to do in the middle of battle. Try to maneuver into a position that puts an enemy in between you and the door. Then, use Aard on both the door and the enemy.
Is Death By Fire Worth It?
Death By Fire is not worth doing
We do not recommend doing this quest. The benefits that you gain from this quest are not very useful for your progression in the game. Finishing this quest will be mainly for the sake of the game's completion and to have more knowledge about the Witcher World.
