How to Unlock Looters
Approach any of the three areas where the Bandit/Peasant looters are located around Velen. To find out the location of the looters, see our Tips and Strategies below.
Is Looters Missable or Failable?
You cannot miss or fail this quest even if you finish all of the main quests in the game.
Looters Walkthrough
There are 3 parts to the Looters Side Quest.
Part 1 Objectives

Choices
When dealing with any of the 3 groups of looters, you will be given a choice to either interfere with them or to ignore them. Picking the first choice in all scenarios will always result in combat.

The only exception to this is the 2nd group, in which case you will have to face a group of Alghouls instead of the Peasants.
Looters Tips and Strategies
Exploration Tips
Witcher Diagram
After defeating whichever enemies you encounter at the location of Group 2, the Diagram: Enhanced Feline Gauntlets can be looted inside a chest the the end of the cave.
Questing Tips
Hostile Intent
When approaching any of the Looter Groups, you should always have your weapon sheathed. If you approach them with any of your swords unsheathed, they will attack you immediately and you will not get a chance to talk to them.
Looter Group 1 Location
You can find the location of the first group of looters at an intersection west of the Inn at the Crossroads.
Looter Group 2 Location
You can find the location of the second group of looters inside Codger's Quarry located northeast of the Hanged Man's Tree.
Looter Group 3 Location
You can find the location of the third group of looters at a ransacked village southeast of the Marauder's Bridge.
Combat Strategies
Peasants/Bandits (Humans)
- Coat your Steel Sword with Hanged Man's Venom to deal bonus damage to them.
- Cast the Aard or Axii Sign to stagger or stun some enemies and give yourself an opening to attack them.
- Throw Grapeshot Bombs at them to deal with multiple enemies at once.
Alghouls
- Coat your Silver Sword with Necrophage Oil to deal bonus damage to them.
- Cast the Axii Sign on them constantly to keep them befuddled so they will not grow spikes
- If they have grown spikes on their backs, do not attack them. You will get damaged if you attack them with spikes. Instead, cast the Axii Sign on them to remove the spikes.
Looters is not worth doing
We do not recommend doing this quest. The benefits that you gain from this quest are not very useful for your progression in the game. Finishing this quest will be mainly for the sake of the game's completion and to have more knowledge about the Witcher World.
