Recruit Partitio to your party. Complete Partitio's Scent of Commerce at Tropu'hopu. Sail northeast to reach The Lost Isle. Get Proof of the Arcanist From Arcanist Descendant.

Recruit Partitio to Your Party

Partitio Yellowil is a Merchant whose goal is to liberate the world from poverty just as he did to his hometown.

Recruit him to your party by going to Oresrush in the Wildlands and completing Chapter 1 of his story.

Partitio's Storyline

Complete Partitio's Scent of Commerce at Tropu'hopu

After recruiting Partitio to your team, head for Tropu'hopu - a town northeast of Beastling Village where you get Ochette.

From there, head east until you get to Tropu'hopu: Shipyard and watch a short cutscene. After the cutscene, talk to Terry - the shipwright who's standing on the dock.

Next, you need to farm money until you have saved up 100,000 leaves. Partitio has a variety of skills that can help farm leaves like the job skill Collect that lets him take money from a foe and the support skill Grows on Trees which allows your team to gain additional leaves after every battle. Use these to maximize your earnings!

Once you've saved up 100,000 leaves, head for Tropu'hopu: Shipyard once more and buy Terry's ship.

Note that Partitio needs to be a part of your party to complete this quest. Without him, you won't be able to buy Terry's ship.

Hire an NPC to Get a Discount

If you're low on money, you can hire NPCs from Tropu'hopu that can give you a discount when buying the ship.

Two NPCs are a gamble since you can only get the discount if you're lucky enough. You can save and keep rerolling to get the discount but if you're not willing to do that, the guaranteed 20% discount the Merchant NPC gives is good enough.

Defeat the Scourge of the Sea

Before you can get to the eastern area of the Sundering Sea, you need to defeat the Scourge of the Sea first. This creature hides in the whirlpool between Toto'haha and the Brightlands region that you can see on your World Map. Approach the whirlpool and defeat the creature so you can pass through and get to the Eastern area of the Sundering Sea.

Successfully besting the Scourge of the Sea in battle will reward you with a Sea Monster's Whisker. You can take this to the Hunter Guild Master so you can get another Hunter License!

Get Proof of the Arcanist From Arcanist Descendant

Upon reaching The Lost Isle, climb up the ladder and examine the sign up ahead. Afterwards, walk west until you reach the Arcanist Descendant. They'll give you the Proof of the Arcanist and you can now equip it to your traveler of choice.

Two of the Arcanist's skills - Malice and Blessing - are a combination of recovery and offensive skills that can deal damage to all foes in the battlefield while also recovering allies' HP and SP. The more damage it deals to enemies, the more HP and SP they can give to your party.

Every time an opponent hits your Arcanist with an attribute-reducing skill, use Seal of Inversion to turn it around on them.

Another powerful skill the Arcanist has at their disposal is a skill called Seal of Diffusion. With it, you can extend the reach of a self-target skill your Arcanist has to all members of your party.

Some viable ways you can utilize this is by using it on a Warrior's Vengeful Blade so everyone in the party can counter attacks with a sword. It can also be used on a Merchant's Sidestep to make your party dodge a physical attack with a 100% success rate.

Furthermore, you can also use it on the Arcanist's Seal of Immortality to prevent your party from dying from a lethal attack and Reflective Barrier to reflect magic onto enemies on the battlefield.

Can Make Buffs Last the Entire Battle

Lastly, the Arcanist's Divine Skill Seal of Eternity can make a certain buff last the entire battle.
