EXP Farming Guide: How to Level Up Fast

Complete Partitio's Storyline

To start leveling your characters and getting them the highest amount of EXP possible, we need to complete Partitio's Storyline to unlock a Side Story, which involves a certain NPC that will help us receive an insane amount of EXP.

You will need to level up Partitio and your party at around Lv. 45~50 intiially to complete the entire storyline.

Complete Misha's Next Chapter Side Story

The next step requires you to complete Misha's Next Chapter side story, which can only be unlocked after completing Partitio's Storyline. We will need to hire a specific NPC in this side story that can only be possible by completing the quest.

Recruit Alrond in Your Party

After you've completed all the pre-requisite quests involved, you will be able to use Path Actions on Alrond. You can either befriend him using Ochette or hire his services using Leaves with Partitio's Path Action.

However, if you don't want to spend a ton of money or collect Octopath Bowls to hire him, you can level up Temenos to Lv. 80 instead for his Guide to get him to join your party for free.

Have the Following Support Skills

More Rare Monsters	Hunter	Raises the chances of encountering rare monsters. (Equipping multiple characters with this skill will have no added effect.)

Once you have Alrond in your party, have Extra Experience, More Rare Monsters, and Life in the Shadows equipped. These skills will grant you additional EXP points and a higher chance of encountering rare monsters.

To get the maximum amount of EXP possible and reduce the time you need to farm EXP, having the EXP Augmentor will help you gain more EXP, while the Alluring Ribbon will help you further increase the chance of encountering rare monsters.

Face The Shark in The Sundering Sea

The next step requires you to head into The Sundering Sea and fight a monster known as Battle-Worn Shark. If you haven't fought the beast yet, you can find it lurking in the sea with its fins visible above the ocean. Ram your boat into the shark to bring up the prompt to fight it. After defeating it the first time, the shark can now be randomly encountered.

If you haven't unlocked it yet, getting a boat to sail into The Sundering Sea requires you to finish Partitio's Scent of Commerce in Tropu'hopu. This will require you to pay a 100,000 leaves to pay for the boat and complete the quest.

Summon Alrond During Battle

Once you encounter the shark, you need to summon Alrond, who will cast Treasure Smell, which includes a chance to get the 100x EXP buff. He will only cast this spell twice during battle, and he can only be summoned 3x per battle. If you didn't get the 100x EXP for both tries. It's recommended you return to your previous save, especially if you're spending the money or Octopath Bowls to hire him to save you a fortune.

Once you have the 100x EXP buff from Alrond, you can use Jewel Cake during battle to increase the amount of EXP you can gain. This is very optional, as farming Jewel Cakes can be pretty hard since you need to capture and prepare Caits to acquire the item.

Defeat the Battle-Worn Shark

If everything else is set up, the last thing you need to do is to kill the shark, which can be quite a problem if you're not prepared to deal with it. Make sure to bring characters that use Sword, Dagger, Axe, and Fire to break its shield points to defeat it.

Once the beast is dead, and you get the rewards, look for the shark again and repeat the process until you reach max level. If you're having trouble farming the shark, you can always swap it with monsters that are more manageable for your level, using the same steps to get more consistent runs.

Ochette's Light Revenant Spam Team

Throne	Dancer	【Buffer】 ・Strengthen all allies using Blessing of Darkness to kill monsters faster. ・Her high speed stat means she can act first to set up buffs or change turn order, especially with Fleetfoot equipped. ・Can use Stimulate to make her allies go first in the order. ・Armor Corrosive will increase the party's overall damage. ・Life in the Shadows support skill adds additional EXP and JP.
Castti	Merchant	【Healer】 ・A healer that can also provide Ochette her own BP with Concoct and Donate BP. ・Boost-Start makes sure that Castti can donate enought BP to Ochette for max BP. ・Can use Concoctions to supply the whole party with BP. ・Once Full Power is unlocked, it will make sure she can use Concoct without requiring materials, saving you the resources. ・Can cover for Partitio in scenarios where Castti is faster than Ochette.
Partitio	Hunter	【Support】 ・Supplies Ochette constantly with BP for Light Revenant spam. ・Heighten Senses increases the chance of him going first during a turn, which allows him to supply Ochette with BP. ・In certain situations, Leghold Trap can help manipulate the turn order.

Having this team will allow you to easily farm mobs without any problem, especially since Light Revenant can almost one-shot every mob until early late game. However, capturing Light Revenant can be hard to do. It's recommended you farm EXP at the Abandoned Waterway until you're level 20 and above.

Once that's done, head to the Cavern of Waves and confront the Light Revenant to capture it. Break its shield and use Partitio's most expensive mercenary at max BP to deal a ton of damage, and it should be enough to capture it. After capturing the monster, it will now be much easier for you to farm monsters at areas such as in the Unfinished Tunnel and the Forsaken Graveyard.
