The Scourge of the Sea has the ability to take away your characters for several turns. Make sure to compose a party of characters that can survive even without a lot of support: characters that can heal themselves or characters that have high defenses.

Utilize Characters that Can Execute Quick Breaks

Aside from having a relatively high shield value, The Scourge of the Sea's charged attack swallows three of your characters leaving one to fend for themselves. Once the Scourge starts charging, breaking it before it can perform its attack is crucial. Bring characters that can easily break the boss. For instance, Temenos with a Scholar secondary job can significantly decrease shield values with his latent power and Elemental Barrage.
