Octopuff Travelers are octopus-like enemies found in different regions of Solistia. They have high evasion stat and are quick to run away when sensing danger. Be prepared to defeat one quickly as you encounter them since they'll most likely flee from you before you reap the rewards.

Skill Job Description
More Rare Monsters Hunter Hunter Raises the chances of encountering rare monsters. (Equipping multiple characters with this skill will have no added effect.)

Increase the chance of having Octopuff Travelers appear in your encounters by unlocking the support skill More Rare Monsters. This can be achieved by having Ochette in your party or having someone get Hunter as their secondary job since it will increase the chance of encountering rare monsters.

Do note that these support skills will not stack with each other, and having one character have it is enough to increase the likelihood you'll encounter one.

Octopuff Pot is an equipable accessory that raises the chances of encountering Octopuff Travelers. This can be obtained by using a Path Action on a Fisherman in Conning Creek, Harborlands.

It will cost you 19,000 leaves to purchase the accessory if you use Partitio's Path Action on him.

Transform Enemies to Octopuffs With Bewildering Grace

Skill Job Description
Bewildering Grace Dancer Dancer Cause a curious effect to occur 1 time.

When using Agnea's dancer skill, Bewildering Grace, there's a slight chance you'll be able to transform enemies into an Octopuff Traveler. This only works on normal enemies and has a random chance of happening when BP is maxed out.

It's important that you defeat the transformed enemies as soon as possible, as they'll try to flee like their wild counterparts.

Secure Victory Using Hikari's Merciless Blade

Map World View

To easily beat any octopuff traveler you encounter, bring Hikari along and make him learn the skill called Merciless Blade. It's an offensive skill that allows Hikari to deal a fixed 3000 damage against an opponent.

However, obtaining Merciless Blade isn't easy since you need to defeat the Young Man NPC in Tropu'hopu to learn the skill. The Young Man has max strength and hits like a truck, so It's better to be adequately leveled when attempting to learn from him.

Normal Octopuff Travelers can be easily defeated with Soulstones. Soulstones deal magical damage, which means that they can hit enemies without fail. They also deal high damage so you don't have to worry about the Octopuff Traveler's shield points.

Utilize Break and Boost

Octopath Traveler 2 -  Break
Break an Octopuff Traveler's shield by exploiting their weaknesses. While they are in a break state, the enemy will be stunned, has lowered defense, and cannot move for one turn, meaning that you can take this opportunity to unleash your strong attacks against them!

Maximize damage while enemies are in this state by using Boost to enhance your attacks, spells, and skills.

Latent Power is a new game mechanic that provides a powerful unique ability to each character. There are latent powers such as letting players access strong and unique skills, replenishing BP, changing spells' focus to a single enemy to make it strong, and many more. It's wise to utilize this mechanic when fighting an Octopuff Traveler.

Hired Help Merchant Merchant Pay money to summon hired help to the battlefield.

A skill with high accuracy like Partitio's Hired Help are effective against Octopuff Travelers. Use boost to increase the hit rate since, even with its high accuracy, it doesn't always hit.

Octopuff Travelers have a high evasion rate, so choose the one that can be summoned with 7000 Leaves for a higher chance of hitting the enemy.

Defeating a normal Octopuff Traveler should be on your farming priority list, as successfully killing one grants the player 1500 Leaves, 500 EXP, and 300 JP, while a King Octopuff gives 25000 Leaves, 1000 EXP and 1500 JP.

While the King rewards more experience points than its normal counterpart, it's much more difficult to kill without a proper setup. Make sure to use everything you have to take down the King Octopuff if you encounter one!

You can boost the amount of EXP, JP, and Leaves you obtain defeating Octopuffs by having the following skills equipped in your party. Extra Experience can be obtained from Osvald while Life in the Shadows is obtained from Throne.
