Rare Chance to Encounter Across All Region

Octopath Traveler II - Octopuff Traveler
Caits are cat-like enemies found everywhere in Solistia. They have high evasion stat and are quick to run away when sensing danger. Be prepared to defeat one quickly as you encounter them since they'll most likely flee from you before you can reap the rewards.

Equip Cait Powder Accessory

Octopath Traveler 2 - Cait Powder

Increase the chance of encountering Caits by equipping the Cait Powder accessory to your party. You can acquire one in a chest in Tropu'hopu and another by completing the My Beloved Catharine Side Story in Clockbank.

Unlock The More Rare Monsters Support Skill

Skill Job Description
More Rare Monsters Hunter Hunter Raises the chances of encountering rare monsters. (Equipping multiple characters with this skill will have no added effect.)

Increase the chance of having Caits appear in your encounters by unlocking the support skill More Rare Monsters. This can be achieved by having Ochette in your party or having someone get Hunter as their secondary job since it will increase the chance of encountering rare monsters.

Do note that these support skills will not stack with each other, and having one character have it is enough to increase the likelihood you'll encounter one.

Transform Enemies to Caits With Bewildering Grace

When using Agnea's dancer skill, Bewildering Grace, there's a slight chance you'll be able to transform enemies into a Cait. This only works on normal enemies and has a random chance of happening when BP is maxed out.

Defeat the transformed enemies as soon as possible, as they'll try to flee like their wild counterparts.

How to Beat Caits

How to Beat Caits

Secure Victory Using Hikari's Merciless Blade

Map World View

To easily beat any Caits you encounter, bring Hikari along and make him learn the skill called Merciless Blade. It's an offensive skill that allows Hikari to deal a fixed 3000 damage against an opponent.

However, obtaining Merciless Blade isn't easy since you need to defeat the Young Man NPC in Tropu'hopu to learn the skill. The Young Man has max strength and hits like a truck, so it's recommended to be adequately leveled when attempting to learn from him.

List of All Learned Skills

Use Soulstones

Octopath Traveler 2 - Soulstone
Caits can be easily defeated with Soulstones. Soulstones deal magical damage, which means that they can hit enemies without fail. They also deal high damage so you don't have to worry about a Cait's shield points.

Utilize Break and Boost

Octopath Traveler 2 - Break
Break a Cait's shield by exploiting their weaknesses. While they are in a break state, the enemy will be stunned, has lowered defense, and cannot move for one turn, meaning that you can take this opportunity to unleash your strong attacks against them!

Maximize damage while enemies are in this state by using Boost to enhance your attacks, spells, and skills.

Use Characters' Latent Power

Latent Power is a new game mechanic that provides a powerful unique ability to each character. There are latent powers such as letting players access strong skills, replenishing BP, changing spells' focus to a single enemy to make it strong, and many more. It's wise to utilize this mechanic when fighting Caits.

Use Hired Help Job Skill

Skill Job Description
Hired Help Merchant Merchant Pay money to summon hired help to the battlefield.

A skill with high accuracy, such as Partitio's Hired Help, is effective against Caits. Use boost to increase the hit rate since, even with its high accuracy, it doesn't always hit.

Octopuff Travelers have a high evasion rate, so choose the one that can be summoned with 7000 Leaves for a higher chance of hitting the enemy.
