Forbidden Elixir is an item in Octopath Traveler 2 with a label that tells the player not to drink it. Read on to find out what happens to your party if you drink the Forbidden Elixir and where to get and farm the item.

What Happens if You Drink the Forbidden Elixir?

Reduces HP to 1 But Recovers BP/SP

Drinking the Forbidden Elixir during battle will reduce the user's HP to 1 but fully restores their BP/SP. While other items can provide such effects without losing HP, like the Revitalizing Jam, this can be useful in times of need, especially if you require the BP.

Another use for the Forbidden Elixir is by using it with an item called Alpione's Amulet. The Amulet has an effect that allows the user to deal more damage to enemies the lower their HP is. It's recommended that you use this alongside skills that allow characters to survive fatal attacks, as you'd want to recover their HP after dealing damage.

Forbidden Elixir can be obtained by stealing it from a Hollowed Vessel in Lostseed, Brightlands. This particular region on the map can only be unlocked after progressing through Throne's story quest and reaching Chapter 4.

Obtained Inside the Guard Outpost in Conning Creek

Octopath Traveler 2 - Farmable
You can also farm the Forbidden Elixir by heading to the Guard Outpost in Conning Creek. You need to use the Thief's skill Steal to get the Forbidden Elixir from the mobs you encounter.

To unlock the Guard Outpost, you'll have to progress through Osvald's story quest first and reach Chapter 3, where you have to venture to Conning Creek. After progressing through the chapter, the Guard Outpost in the city should open its gates, and you will be able to head inside.
