The above rewards assume that your first high score starts at 20 and subsequent high scores always end with +2.

Keep Your First High Score at 20 Points

It is recommended to keep your score at 20 the first time you are aiming for the Flower Tab (and just 22 on the next instance for the Flower Jar), since you cannot get all rewards in one go, it is best to keep your high scores to the minimum based on the table above.

On every successful win, the mole will add +2 more points to the reward requirement based on your last highest score for obtaining an item.

How much points you need for a reward after finishing the minigame depends on your last high score. After obtaining the Flower Jar, all rewards from that point onwards will be Frog Coins.

How to Farm Frog Coins

Gold Medal in the Play Report (26 Points or More)

Obtaining a score of 26 points or more gives you a Gold Medal next to the name of the minigame in the Play Report screen. You can unlock the Play Report screen after completing the main story.

To play the Goomba Thumping minigame, you must pay 10 Coins every time. This entry price is permanent, and it does not change throughout the course of the game.

Jump on Goombas and Avoid Spikeys

The goal of Goomba Thumping is to jump over as many Goombas as you can that come out of the pipes in the area, earning enough points to beat a target high score all in the span of 30 seconds.

Only three types of enemies show up from the pipes: Goombas, Gold Goombas and Spikeys.

Jumping on Goombas will add 1 to your point, jumping on Gold Goombas give 3 points, while jumping on Spikeys will subtract it by 1.

Hit One Goomba at a Time for Safe 20+ Points

If you are just aiming to secure the Flower Tab and Flower Jar from this minigame first, then a good strategy would be to just jump on a Goomba one at a time without worrying about chaining jumps.

There will be plenty of time to earn up to more than 20 points, so take it easy with jumping!

Flower Tab Locations and Effects

Return to the Center After a Goomba

Goombas will randomly appear on the pipes, so it is best that, after all Goombas have been jumped on, you position yourself at the center of the four pipes to make it much easier to navigate. This will make travelling to pipe more time-efficient!

Wait for the Next Goomba If You Miss

The time a Goomba stays visible on a pipe is short, so if you cannot make it to a Goomba in time, it is best to just hold back at the center and wait for the next Goomba to appear. This will save time.

The Golden Goomba has an even shorter visiblity time after appearing, so be on your guard when it appears.

Chain Jumps from One Goomba to Another

Goombas do not immediately fall back into the pipe after appearing. When Goombas appear simultaneously in multiple pipes, you will want to jump on all of them as quick as you can.

To get points quickly, you can jump from one Goomba immediately to another nearby Goomba.

Go to the Pipe Vault Enter the 2nd to the Last Pipe Talk to the Mole

Go to the Pipe Vault

The Pipe Vault can be accessed upon completing Chapter 2 where Bowyer has been defeated. It can be accessed via the World Map, and is the only route to get to Yo'ster Isle.

Proceed through the Pipe Vault until you find an area where 6 pipes are lined up.

Enter the 2nd to the Last Pipe

In the room with 6 pipes lined up, enter the 2nd to the last pipe in the area.

This pipe will take you to another room with 4 pipes with a mole. The mole can be found at the top-left of the area.

Talk to the Mole

To start the Goomba Thumping minigame, simply go and talk to the mole in the area. After talking to the mole and paying the entry price, position yourself in the middle of the 4 pipes.

This minigame can be played at any time. It will take a while to go back here, however, since you must always go through the other Pipe Vault areas first to return to this room.

Goomba Thumping is a minigame found at the Pipe Vault in the Super Mario RPG Remake.

This game involves having Mario jump on the heads of Goombas to get as much points as possible within a 30-second time limit.

Valuable rewards include Flower-related items which are used to increase your party's max FP and Frog Coins for buying rare items at the Frog Coin Shop and Emporium.
