In Super Mario RPG Remake, you can randomly get a freebie of a consumable item that you just used in battle. Read on to learn how to get a freebie, the probability of getting one, and what happens when you get one.
List of Contents
You can obtain a freebie only by chance: every time you use a consumable item, there's a certain probability that you'll get that item for free.
This is amazing when you get this chance after using a powerful and expensive item such as Croaka Cola or Party Energizer!
Even if you press the action button when using an item, the probability of getting the freebie will not change. There is no way to increase your chances in getting a freebie; it's just pure chance.
There was a popular myth among those that played the original game that your chances increase when pressing certain buttons with the correct timing, but these rumors are likely untrue.
Chance of Getting a Freebie When Used 100 Times | |
---|---|
Mushroom: 28/100 | Croaka Cola: 31/100 |
While this hasn't been officially confirmed, we believe that the chance is around 30%. In our tests of using Mushroom and Croaka Cola 100 times, we got close to 30 freebies for each.
After using a consumable item, you'll know you got a freebie when the 'Got a freebie!' pops up on the top left of your screen. When you get a freebie, you get the effects of the item you used, but it is not consumed: the item's count doesn't decrease in your inventory.
Although the probability is low, it possible to get successive hits. If you keep getting hits, you can use the item as many times as you like.
