4 | Defeat Chomp Chomp and Reveal the Platform Inside the pipe, defeat the Chomp Chomp, then jump three times at the corner to make the hidden platform appear; it will make a sound indicating a secret each time. Jump on it and follow the path above to access the Map screen, with Grate Guy's Casino now unlocked. |
5 | Use Your Bright Card to Get Inside Show your Bright Card to the bouncers at Grate Guy's Casino to get inside. |
Grate Guy's Casino can be accessed from Bean Valley, so proceed through the story first until you reach the area.
Knife Guy and Grate Guy must be defeated as part of the main story first before you can begin to access the Casino. Knife Guy will stay at the Booster Tower after the fight.
Before going to Grate Guy's Casino, you will need to acquire a Bright Card from Knife Guy as proof of your membership.
To get the card, you need to play Knife Guy's juggling game multiple times and get 12 points. You gain 1 point for winning a game and you lose 1 point for losing a game.
How to Win Knife Guy's Juggling Game
Once you have the Bright Card, head over to the center of Bean Valley where there is an area with 5 pipes.
Defeat the Piranha Plant (Chewys in battle) inhabiting the top-most pipe and enter it!
Defeat Chomp Chomp | Jump Three Times at the Edge |
---|---|
Inside the pipe is an area consisting of different enemies. Head over to the end of the area where a Chomp Chomp resides and defeat it.
Then, at the corner located to the left of the Chomp Chomp, jump three times to reveal an invisible platform; it will make a sound indicating a secret each time. Jump over the platform and then jump over to the ledge. Just head over to the revealed entrance to gain access to Grate Guy's Casino.
Chomp Chomp Weakness and Drops
If you talk to the Toad sleeping in the Nimbus Land inn, you'll get hints on how to get to the casino. The hints include information such as '3 jumps' and 'Bright Card'.
You'll need the Bright Card to enter the Casino, so even if you've unlocked it, you won't be able to enter if you aren't carrying your Bright Card. It's possible to sell your Bright Card for 777 coins to a shop, which will make the Casino permanently inaccessible, or for up to 10 Frog Coins to an Elderly Toad at Marrymore Inn, but this will lock you out of the Casino unless you buy it back from him for 15 Frog Coins, so be careful before you part with it.
Grate Guy's Casino contains three minigames that you can play and get rewards. One of these rewards is the Star Egg, a reusable item that deals damage to all enemies.
Unlike the Casino in the original game, which asked the player to bet Frog Coins, all the games are now completely free to play, so players can simply farm items here with no regrets.
This game is unlocked when Mario talks to Grate Guy three times. On the third time, he'll invite you to play Look the Other Way.
To play the game, Mario simply has to look in the opposite direction of where Grate Guy will raise his finger.
There are only two directions to look in this game: Left and Right, giving Mario a 50% chance of winning. Winning this game 100 times will net you the Star Egg, a powerful reusable battle item. The game is entirely luck, so just keep playing until you rack up 100 wins.
Minigame Rewards (1 Random Item) |
---|
Wilt Shroom x1 Moldy Mush x1 Royal Syrup x1 Croaka Cola x1 Rock Candy x1 |
Minigame Reward (100 Wins) |
Star Egg x1 |
Winning the Look the Other Way minigame will net random rewards. The most valuable item that can be obtained from playing Look the Other Way 100 times is the Star Egg.
The Star Egg is a reusable item that can be used in battle to deal damage to all enemies, helpful in boss fights such as Culex.
Everyone's position is randomized per round.
The memory game is played by memorizing the cards and successfully selecting which of the cards shows the characters that the dealer asks. Selecting three cards correctly three in a row will net you rewards, but failing once will cause you to start over again.
This game replaces Blackjack from the original game, which may have been considered too risque for modern youth-oriented games.
Minigame Rewards (1 Random Item) |
---|
Cleansing Juice x1 Party Cleanse x1 Royal Syrup x1 Maple Syrup x1 Finless Cola x1 |
Winning the Memory Game will earn you random items listed in the table above as rewards. There are several rare recovery items available, and the game is very short and easy, making this a great spot to farm useful items for the endgame.
Jump and hit the floating Treasure Box once to start the game, and then jump three times while trying to match the symbols.
Since the symbols move very quickly, especially on the 2nd and 3rd slots, we've found that it's better to watch for the symbol coming one before in the pattern for the 2nd slot, and watch for the symbol coming two before in the pattern for the 3rd slot.
Matching 3 symbols will net you rewards. Match less than that or none at all and you will get no rewards.
Minigame Rewards | |
---|---|
Match 3 Mushrooms | Mushroom x1 |
Match 3 Flowers | Honey Syrup x1 |
Match 3 Stars | Energizer x1 |
Matching 3 mushrooms will earn you a Mushroom, matching 3 flowers will earn you a Honey Syrup, and matching 3 stars will earn you an Energizer. Prize Blocks is quite tricky, and the rewards aren't amazing, so it's more worth your time overall to play the Memory Game.

I might be blind and didn't see it listed in the article, but I was playing Look the Other Way and an item I randomly got was Red Essence. I don't see it in the article.
