How to Beat Gunyolk and Factory Chief: Attack Patterns

Target the Factory Chief First

Super Mario RPG Remake - Focusing on the Factory Chief

The fight may be difficult to deal with if you are fighting both the Gunyolk and Factory Chief at the same time. Aim to get rid of the Factory Chief first since its utility special moves can interrupt your efforts to deal with and survive the Gunyolk.

The Gunyolk has the most HP and the most dangerous moves, one being the Breaker Beam which is used every two turns. This becomes even more dangerous due to the Factory Chief's ability to stall the party wtih the Poison and mushroom transformation special attack.

Inflict Fear with Bowser's Terrorize

Super Mario RPG Remake - Terrorize on Gunyolk and Factory Chief

Special Move Effect
Terrorize
(Bowser)
・Inflicts Fear status effect.
・Rotate the left stick to increase the damage dealt by the Special Move.

Bowser's special move Terrorize can inflict Fear while dealing damage to enemies. Inflicting Fear will cause the afflicted to take more damage and deal less.

It is a good idea to use this special move regularly to make the fight with Gunyolk and Factory Chief more bearable.

Best Special Moves for Each Character

Prevent Attacks with Status Effects

Super Mario RPG Remake - Cast Status Effects on Gunyolk and Factory Chief

Special Move Effect
Mute
(Peach)
・Silences a target.
・Rotate the left stick for the timed bonus of increasing the range of the Special Move and target all enemies instead.

Peach serves mainly as a healer in this fight. But whenever there is an opening with no need for healing, use status effects moves such as Mute or Sleepy Time to prevent the enemies from using any of their powerful special attacks.

Gunyolk's Dangerous Boss Move

Gunyolk's Breaker Beam

Super Mario RPG Remake - Gunyolk Using Breaker Beam

The Gunyolk's most dangerous move is the Breaker Beam. Breaker Beam is a high-damage party-wide attack. Watch out for it and have recovery items on hand!
