In the Super Mario RPG Remake, you can unlock the secret ending by purchasing multiple Fireworks. Read on to learn how to get the secret ending, all the different kinds of the secret ending, and an explanation of the secret ending.
List of Contents
To unlock the secret ending, you need to have purchased three or more Fireworks in total. You'll get a different ending depending on the amount of Fireworks you bought.
You can buy the Fireworks from the mole in the Moleville Shop for 500 Coins. However, he'll only sell it to you once; there's a set of steps that you need to do before you can buy more Fireworks.
The first thing you need to do is trade away the first Fireworks that you bought. The mole girl just outside the shop is looking for Fireworks, and will trade you a Shiny Stone for it.
How to Get and Use Shiny Stone
The Shiny Stone will now have to be traded to another mole girl; you'll find this one in the upper corner of the Moleville shop. She'll give you a Carbo Cookie for the Shiny Stone.
How to Get and Use Carbo Cookie
This Carbo Cookie will have to be traded again; you'll have to find the next mole girl in the bucket, at the western part of Moleville. She'll give you a Frog Coin for the Carbo Cookie. You can now buy more Fireworks from the Firework Vendor.
How to Farm Frog Coins
You get different secret endings depending on the amount of Fireworks that you have. Note that the first one you bought will be traded and doesn't count. If you only bought one Fireworks in your playthrough, you'll get the regular ending.
Fireworks Display | # of Fireworks |
---|---|
Mushroom Shape | 0 - 2 |
Fire Flower Shape | 3 - 4 |
Star Shape | 5+ |
If you have purchased two or less Fireworks (including having none), the fireworks display at the end of the game will display a Mushroom shape. This is the regular ending to the game.
If you have purchased three or four Fireworks, the fireworks display at the end of the game will display a Fire Flower shape. This is one of the secret endings.
If you have purchased at least five Fireworks in total, the fireworks display at the end of the game will display a Star shape. Five Fireworks means you need to have accumulated 3000 coins; this is quite a huge amount, so you might need to farm coins for quite a bit!
How to Farm Coins
The Firework Display changes depending on how many Firework Items you bought at the end of the game, acting as somewhat of a recognition of an achievement that you have earned enough Coins to purchase many Fireworks to serve as cosmetic items by the end of the game.
The change in the Firework Display is entirely cosmetic, and a minor detail added in the game, but to some players, it may provide a sense of achievement, especially for completionists who aim to complete the game to a 100%!

There's a factual error in this guide. Multiple times the guide says the ending depends on having MULTIPLE Fireworks in your inventory. This is impossible. You can only ever have 1 Fireworks at a time. The ending is different depending on how many Fireworks you have bought in total.

To elaborate, The Mole says different things when you unlock new Fireworks after you buy them: * Mushroom - "Ya just wait for my masterpiece!" * Flower - "I'm gonna' make a name for myself with these fireworks." * Star - "The fireworks I'm making now won't disappoint you" You'll also know when you've reached the best Fireworks when he stops telling you "Come back with more coins and buy my inventions, all right?"
