Super Mario RPG - Red Essence from Monster Dream

When resting at the Nimbus Land Inn, Mario has the extra option of buying a Dream Cushion from the Innkeeper for 30 Coins.

The Dream Cushion is a key item to giving Mario a Red Essence whenever he wakes up from the Monster Dream. Red Essences are used to make a party member invincible and clear status ailments.

The dreams are random, and the Dream Cushion can be repeatedly be used any time whenever Mario chooses to rest at the inn.

Super Mario RPG - Save Scum with the Save Point

Since the dreams are random and there is no certain method in getting the Monster Dream, you can use the Save Point before talking to the innkeeper then keep using that save until you get the Monster Dream.

This can prevent you from unnecessarily spending coins and keep your expenses at 30 coins to get Red Essence.

Torte Dream Several Torte and salt and pepper kitchen items will be present around Mario while he sleeps.
Yoshi Dream Yoshi will be at Mario's bedside, wishing him luck, while he slumbers.
Toad Kid Dream A young Toad from the Mushroom Kingdom, who aspires to be like Mario, will be jumping by his bedside.
Chancellor Dream The Chancellor Toad will be at Mario's bedside, telling him that everyone is counting on him.
Big Troopa Dream A Big Troopa will sitting on Mario while he sleeps.
Gaz Dream The young Gaz will be at Mario's bedside, encouraging Geno.
Floating Bed Dream Mario and his bed will be floating across the screen while he sleeps.
Monster Dream A Toad will be on Mario's stomach, revealing to him that he is a monster while he sleeps. Mario will receive a Red Essence when he wakes up.

Mario will dream one of the several scenarios when using the Dream Cushion.

Of all of the dreams, only the Monster Dream nets Mario a reward of one Red Essence, which is given to him by Toad when he wakes up.
