In Super Mario RPG Remake, if you lose to the Apprentices in Booster Pass, you'll find them promoted in Booster Tower. Read on to learn how to help the Apprentice Snifster get promoted, where you'll find them, and the rewards to helping them.
List of Contents
After you lose to an Apprentice in Booster Pass, you'll find it in the room before the save box to Booster's room at the top of Booster Tower. It will now be named Snifster No. X, with X being a number that depends on how many you've already promoted.
Booster Tower Map and Walkthrough
If you've already encountered Booster, you'll find that he's usually accompanied by three Snifsters.
Meanwhile, somewhere in Booster Pass, there are Snifster variations called the Apprentices that aim to be one of these Snifsters that serve Booster, and you can help achieve this by losing to them in battle.
When you first get into Booster Pass, you won't see the entrance to the training area yet. You'll have to unlock it first in Booster Tower.
The switch is located in the room after the room full of Rob-ombs; you can't miss it while climbing the tower. When you press the switch, a message will pop up to check out Booster Pass.
An optional step, but it is recommended to do in preparation for the next steps: you need to lower the HP of your whole party to very low, preferably to 1 HP. This includes even the allies in standby.
To get everyone's HP low, you'll have to intentionally lose to enemies on purpose. Get into a battle and let your characters be attacked; you can do this by choosing the Defend option, or if you have a Goodie Bag, you can make your characters use that for some coins. Let your characters except one faint so that they revive with 1 HP for the next battle.
Once your party's HP is low enough, go to the first area in Booster Pass and go left to find the entrance to the training area that you've unlocked.
Enter the training area, then jump over the Spikeys, making sure not to fall to the sides (you'll go rolling down to outside the area). Jump until you reach the Snifster Apprentice, who will then battle you.
Booster Pass Map and Walkthrough
In the battle against the Apprentice, your goal is to get your whole party wiped out to it. Normally, this is a very hard thing to do, since it fights alone and its stats are very low. But if you followed the step above, your party is already ready to be defeated.
Don't attack it and just let it defeat your allies one by one until your party is wiped out. Unlike the typical Game Over where you'd get directed to load a saved file, you'll survive this encounter, with the Apprentice happily rushing off, claiming that it's now Snifster No. 4.
Apprentice Weakness and Where to Find
Before going anywhere else, continue to the end of the training area to open the three chests there, which contain a Croaka Cola, Flower, and Frog Coin.
If you want to check (though isn't a necessary step), the Apprentice is now at Booster Tower, and is already named Snifster No. 4.
Leave the training area and return to find another Apprentice; make yourself lose to it again, and repeat this a few more times. After Snifster No. 8, there won't be any more Apprentices to promote.
In Booster Tower, all the promoted Apprentices will be there. They are near the top, in the room before the save box to Booster's room.
Unfortunately for Snifster No. 8, Booster only wants seven Snifsters, so it will soon leave for Grate Guy's Casino.
Grate Guy's Casino Location and Guide
There's not much reason to finish this side quest if you're looking for rewards, since you won't get anything after you promote all the Snifsters. The only rewards you'll get is the happiness of these little guys.
At the end of the training area, there are three chests: they contain a Croaka Cola, Flower, and Frog Coin. However, you don't need to promote an Apprentice or to make yourself lose; you can just go defeat the Apprentice, get the rewards, and leave.
If you decide to change your mind, the defeated Apprentice will respawn there, so you won't miss out on finishing this side quest.
