Geno's Playstyle

Boost Allies' Attack and Defense

Geno's main role in combat is to buff the party's stats with his move, Geno Boost, which can raise the party's attack and defense by 50% when timed correctly.

Execute Non-Boss Enemies

He also possess one of the strongest moves in the game called Geno Whirl. Successfully timing this move deals 9999 damage against non-boss enemies! Use this to pluck annoying enemies one by one!

Can Focus on Using Normal Attacks

As the character who can gain the highest base Attack stat, a Physical-focused Geno would mow down enemies with his normal attacks. Don't worry too much about boosting his Specials as his Geno Whirl would still deal max damage and his Geno Boost's buff won't be affected regardless of his Magic Attack stat.

You can leave the AoE attacks to Mallow or your proficiency in timing the party's normal attacks.

How to Unlock Geno

Joins After Beating Bowyer

Super Mario RPG - Geno Recruit

Best Equipment for Each Character

Weapon: Stella 023

Weapon ATK How to Get
Stella 023 +62 Defeat Engine 023 Booster in a post-game rematch.

Geno's strongest weapon is the Stella 023, which boasts an attack stat of 62. The weapon can be obtained by defeating the Engine 023 Booster in a post-game rematch.

Best Weapons

Armor: Star Cape or Super Suit

Armor Description
Star Cape Attack: -
Defense: +36
Magic Attack: -
Magic Defense: +18
Speed: -

How to Get: Buy from Croco at the Bowser's Keep shop for 100 coins after defeating Magikoopa.
Super Suit Attack: +50
Defense: +50
Magic Attack: +50
Magic Defense: +50
Speed: +30
Effect: Negates status ailments and elemental attacks.

How to Get: Visit Chow in Monstro Town after doing 100 consecutive Super Jumps.

Star Cape is Geno's strongest armor. It has a Defense stat of 36 and Magic Defense of 18.

Super Suit is the strongest armor that can be equipped by all characters. It boasts a 50 Attack, Defense, Magic Attack, and Magic Defense stats and 30 Speed. Since Geno's final Armor provides fewer status boosts than Mario's or Peach's, he is a good option to equip the Super Suit when using a party of those three character.

Accessories: Safety Ring and Jinx Belt

Accessory Description
Defense Scarf Attack: -
Defense: +15
Magic Attack: -
Magic Defense: +15
Speed: -

How to Get: At the Bean Valley vines to Nimbus Land, climb the left route.
Jinx Belt Attack: +27
Defense: +27
Magic Attack: -
Magic Defense: -
Speed: +12
Effect: Prevents instant defeat.

How to Get: Defeat Jinx for the third time at Monstro Town.

The Safety Ring is a great choice for Geno as it will ensure that your primary attacker other than Mario can't be debilitated by status effects or instant death.

If you put the Safety Ring on Peach instead, equipping Geno a Jinx Belt will increase his already high attack, defense, and speed stats which will further increase the likelihood of him going first in combat as well as dealing massive damage against enemies. It can also be used to compensate from the drops from the Lazy Shell Armor if you choose to equip it on Geno.

Quartz Charm is also simple and effective, but remember that it does not stack with Geno Boost.
