After unlocking the Ion Module in the New Tricks Main Story quest, always switch your Blaster module to Ion with the Burst configuration when dealing with shielded enemies as this ammunition has the ability to disable their barriers.

Use Your Adrenaline Rush

Adrenaline Rush Ability Shoots Through Shielded Enemies

Activate your Adrenaline Rush to shoot through enemy shields and eliminate them. If you have the Adrenaline Rush Mastery ability unlocked, this allows you to target two more enemies.

Throw Grenades at the Enemy

Since shielded enemies are only immune to attacks from the front, aim your grenade at the weak spots on their sides or behind them. This tactic will immediately eliminate the enemy if you have a grenade in your possession.

By ordering Nix to attack a shielded enemy, this forces them to stand upright and be vulnerable to any attacks. Use this opportunity to either shoot at them with your blaster or run toward them and deliver a melee attack.
