There is no minimap
A minimap function is currently not available in the game. It makes for a more immersive experience while exploring the galaxy.

Use Compass as Alternative

Use Compass as Minimap Alternative
At the top of your screen, there is a compass feature you can use as a minimap alternative to guide you in the overworld. This feature can show you where points-of-interest are oriented, such as vendors.

Alternatively, there are 4 other map types you can use to navigate: City or POI, Planet, Orbit, and Galaxy maps. You can access these in the menu and zooming out from the map you are in.

Yeah, this really needs a minimap. The compass doesn't help if where you're going is on another level.
