How to Win in Kessel Sabacc

  1. Improve Your Hand Early
  2. Always Use Cheats
  3. Arrange the Best Shift Tokens
  4. Adjust Game Settings

Improve Your Hand Early

Try to improve your hand within two turns, as factors like opponents using Shift Tokens against you or losing a round will decrease the chips in your pot, making it harder to enhance your hand on later rounds with less chips to draw with.

You need to have great hands in the earlier rounds to avoid losing chips early on and because opponents are more likely to have great hands in the earlier rounds as well simply because they have more chips to spend to get a better hand. In contrast, you don't need to have fantastic hands in the later rounds since opponents will probably have less chips to make their hands better.

Pay Attention to the Discarded Cards

Pay Attention to the Discarded Cards

Cards discarded by opponents are shown at the top of the screen, next to their profile. If you pay attention to the cards discarded by the opponent before you, you eliminate the risk of drawing from the regular deck, since you know what you're getting with the discard pile.

This becomes especially useful with the Double Draw cheat, which also allows you to draw two cards from the discard pile.

Aim For Pure Sabacc

Kessel Sabacc - Sylop Cards are Powerful to Have

The best hand you can have at the end of a round are two Sylop cards, known as Pure Sabacc. This unbeatable combination trumps every other hand in the game, similar to a Royal Flush in Poker.

Always Use Cheats

The most common cheat you can use at a Kessel Sabacc table is commanding Nix to peek at every player's cards. This ability can be activated during any round, allowing Nix to show you everyone's hands. With this information, you can efficiently strategize against your opponents.

Do note that there will be tables, like select High Roller Tables that will not allow you to ask for Nix's help. In which case, having the Double Draw cheat is very useful.

Use the Double Draw Cheat

The Double Draw (Plan A) is a useful cheat learned from the High Roller. This will allow you to draw two cards from the pile, broadening your options when forming your hand.

Arrange the Best Shift Tokens

Shift Token Reason
Refund This is invaluable when all chips in the pot are spent, but you still need to improve your hand. It also helps to lessen the amount of chips removed from your pot in case of a loss.
Embargo Best used in the late game, during the second or third turn of the round. It forces your opponent to Stand, preventing them from further improving their hand.
Immunity A versatile token that protects you from other players' Shift Token effects, ensuring your strategy isn’t disrupted.

We recommend having these three Shift Tokens at the ready when playing a game of Kessel Sabacc.

Once you have unlocked more Shift Tokens, you are free to change Refund to Extra Refund or Free Draw, while Embargo can be switched to Markdown or Exhaustion. Always keep Immunity as this can spare you from a lot of trouble.

Adjust Kessel Sabacc Game Settings

Adjust Kessel Sabacc Game Settings

You can adjust the Kessel Sabacc minigame in your game's settings under Gameplay to make the game less challenging.

The most helpful settings to change would be setting the Kessel Sabacc card header to Simple Numbers and disabling the Kessel Sabacc cheat minigame to ensure that your cheating attempts are always successful. Optionally, you may also turn on the Kessel Sabacc helper logs as this gives you pop-up logs on the left side of the screen as actions are made by opponents.

Kessel Sabacc Rules and Mechanics

  1. Ultimate Goal
  2. Special Cards
  3. Actions on Your Turn

Ultimate Goal: Be the Last Player Remaining

Be the Last Player Remaining

In Kessel Sabacc, players are eliminated from the table based on their hand at the end of a round when cards are revealed. There are a total of three turns per round, and the game continues for three rounds until there is only one winner left at the table.

Have the Lowest Numerical Value

Kessel Sabacc - Have the Best Hand Every Round
Cards on the Sand and Blood deck are numbered from 1 to 6, and the total is determined by calculating the difference between the two cards you hold. The closer this difference is to 0, or if it equals 0, the better your chances of winning.

Get Cards of the Same Number With the Lowest Numerical Value

Kessel Sabacc - Get Cards of the Same Value

The best possible outcome is to have two cards of the same value, called Sabacc, resulting in a difference of zero. The ultimate hand is having two Sylop Cards, known as Pure Sabacc, which beats any other combination.

Ideally, your matching cards should have the lowest possible numerical value, as a lower number improves your hand. For instance, having two cards with a value of 2 is better than having two cards with a value of 4, so keep developing your hand with this in mind.

Use Special Cards in The Deck

Sylop Cards Are Powerful to Have

Sylop Cards are Powerful to Have

Sylop Cards are identified by the compass symbol and automatically match the value of the other card in your hand. If you manage to pair two Sylop cards together, this is called a Pure Sabacc, leading you to instantly win the game.

Impostor Card Value is Determined by Dice

The value of an Impostor Card is determined by rolling dice at the end of a round. Their unpredictable nature can either work in your favor or against you depending on how well you roll, so do keep this in your hand with caution.

Take Actions on Your Turn

Draw Cards Until a Good Hand

Kessel Sabacc - Draw Cards Until a Good Hand

Draw cards during your turn until you achieve your desired hand. You can draw from the Sand, Blood, or discard piles, with each draw usually costing 1 chip from your pot. If you are satisfied with your hand, you may choose to Stand instead of drawing.

Regular tables give you 4 chips in your pot, while High Roller tables start you with 6 chips, so make sure to budget them wisely while improving your hand.

Use Shift Tokens When Needed

Kessel Sabacc - Play Shift Tokens When Needed

Shift Tokens offer strategic advantages during the game. You can hold up to three at a time, with each providing different benefits. The most common, the Free Draw Shift Token, lets you draw a card without spending a chip, giving you a chance to improve your hand without risk.

Cheat on Your Turn

Cheat on Your Turn

You can use various cheats to gain an edge in the game, though be cautious when performing them as failing the cheat minigame a certain number of times will lead to you being banned from playing at the same table for a short while.
