Like dying, you will lose credits after being arrested and then respawn somewhere nearby. You will lose more or fewer credits depending on your wanted level.

When it comes to Syndicates, your reputation with the faction you are trespassing in will decrease if you get apprehended and thrown out.

Do Not Fight Back When Approached by Stormtroopers
Imperials can arrest you if you gain a wanted status by aiming your blaster and attacking Stormtroopers, trespassing in restricted areas, or committing crimes. It is also possible to get apprehended and thrown out by the syndicates if you get trespass in their territories.

On the ground, if you have a wanted status and let an Imperial walk to you without you fighting back or doing anything, you will eventually be arrested.
