This choice occurs at the end of the Intel Chain, Eavesdropping, the Recording Device. The choice is prompted after the you take the recording device on the table where the Pykes are located.

Handing over the recording will slightly increase your reputation with the Pyke Syndicate, while lying will slightly increase your reputation with the Crimson Dawn and earn you 150 Credits.

It is better to hand over the recording device as you will slightly increase your reputation with the Pyke Syndicate.

The Pykes have better Maximum Reputation rewards, as their Faction Gear is the Imperial Disguise set, which will allow you to walk through Imperial restricted zones undetected.
