| Normal State | |
|---|---|
| Fulgurite Mantle State |
Rey Dau has two phases, which are its Normal State and Fulgur Mantle state.
| Turn Count | Move |
|---|---|
| Turn 1 | Fulgurite Blade |
| Turn 1.5 | Fulgurite Mantle Transforms Rey Dau into its Fulgurite Mantle State |
| Turn 2 | Rising Shot |
| Turn 3 | Thunder Aura/Railgun Revert to Normal State |
| Turn 3.2 | If Faltered, it uses Stun Gun |
| Turn 4 | Speed Attack |
After turn 1, where it uses Fulgurite Blade to deal a party-wide Electric damage Attack, it will transform straight away into its Fulgurite Mantle state. After its transformation, it will use Rising Shot to target a single enemy with an electric-Power attack. On the 3rd turn, it will use Thunder Aura, then at the end of that turn, Railgun which is a party-Wide AOE. It will revert to its normal state after this attack.
If it falters before you get to turn 3, it will use Stun Gun instead and reset from Rising Shot. It will do 1 Speed attack after returning to normal before it resets. They cycle by doing the Fulgurite blade and transforming again. When it charges up to Thunder Aura, there will be an intermission where Rudy will deflect the attack once. Staggering Rey Dau can also stop it from charging up its Railgun and make it revert to normal without doing the attack.
Aurora Somnacanth
|
Purple Gypceros
|
It is highly recommended to bring Aurora Somnacanth to the battle; this monstie is one of the few Ice Element monsters that you can use to take advantage of Rey Dau's weakness to Ice. This can be caught in Mt. Canalta or in the Frozen Grotto in Canalta Timberland.
Another monstie you can bring is the Purple Gypceros, which you can get pretty early on in the game in Azuria. Its skill Flash has a chance to inflict Darkness, which Rey Dau is vulnerable to.

Rey Dau will be at Level 44 when you fight it, so level up yourself and your party to be at least Level 40. It is doable to do it at around Level 35, but it will be difficult.
EXP Guide: How to Level Up Fast
Take advantage of Kinship Skills to skip Rey Dau's AOE attack. Skills such as Solar Cry or passives like Soul Kinship help fill your Kinship gauge faster. These are extremely helpful in battle as they allow players to reliably use the Kinship Gauge to skip Rey Dau's Turn.
Use this skill during the turns where Rey Dau uses Thunder Aura to stop it from charging up its Railgun.
How to Use Kinship Skills

Inflict darkness on Rey Dau when you can. You can use a variety of ways to do this. First is to use the Flash Skill from a monstie, you can also complete Kora's Chapter 1 Side Story to get the recipe to create a Flash Bomb, lastly, you can equip a bow with a flash coating like the Dawn Ray Bow to do attacks that can inflict darkness. Inflicting darness can increase the chance of Rey Dau missing its attacks.
Kora Side Story Walkthrough and Rewards

Bring Ogden for this battle; he provides good assistance by buffing and sustaining your team.
Ogden Partner Profile: Stats and Skills

To increase the chance of interrupting Rey Dau's attacks, use an armor that helps in filling up the gauge faster. The Lagiacrus Armor is highly recommended, since you can get this pretty early in the game, and it also reduces damage taken from thunder attacks.

You will face Rey Dau in the chapter To The Sacrosanctum. Travel to the end of Death's Maw. Once you encounter the Sandstorm, going further in will start the fight with Rey Dau.
